About me

I'm Sarah and I am an experienced cognitive behavioural, motivation interviewing, and solution focused coach working with individuals, coaching at work, couples coaching privately, young people, teams and online coaching.

I offer a range of coaching areas including business coaching, personal development, career coaching, health coaching including coaching for motivation, emotional management, ADHD, leadership coaching, positive mindset, purpose and direction, couples coaching and interpersonal skills.

What does Mariposa Coaching stand for?

Mariposa means butterfly in Spanish and I took the name for my business to encapsulate the feeling of transformative change that we are all capable of, with the right guidance, skills and support. I use evidence based cognitive behavioural and solution focused techniques to empower coachees to enhance performance, interpersonal skills and resilience. Like the butterfly 'mariposa' we all go through change that is transformative.  Over a series of sessions I help you to assess where you are currently, design the outcome you would like to see, apply evidence based skills and strategies and evaluate what works.

A certified stress management and performance coach and trainer I offer: coaching, workshops, coaching supervision and training.

Since 2000 I’ve been coaching and training clients facing some of the most complicated challenges imaginable in life. Our lives are getting busier and I’ve become fascinated by how successful people balance performance with well-being in their lives. I was on the edge of burnout in 2015, with a heavy workload in an employed role, and wanted to find that balance between personal well-being and performance in my own working life. So I set up my private practice alongside my facilitator role in the public sector and in 2018 moved to self employed full time coaching and training.  I have a coaching and training room in Nailsea which is 6 miles from central Bristol on the Bristol bus route. I also deliver training for the Severn Postgraduate Medical Education NHS Trust in coaching and mentoring skills and consultant  feedback skills for psychiatrists, surgeons, gynaecologists, dental doctors and other consultants in the South West, I work with a variety of clients in the workplace to enhance skills and wellbeing, I write and deliver my own workshops from my coaching rooms, I provide talks for businesses at their workplace, I offer couples coaching and coaching for young people. I am one of Meningitis Now's coaching practitioners. I work with age 9 upwards, teenagers and adults.

How will my coaching benefit you?

I help you to work on self-acceptance, self-motivation, performance and focus to achieve your goals. I help you to increase interpersonal skills to enhance your performance and be more productive. I empower clients to develop positive thinking & improve interactions with others and increase emotional intelligence. I work with individuals face to face and skype to support the development of interpersonal skills, improved self-esteem & stress management. I use approaches drawn from coaching psychology and evidence based practices for long lasting results and help you to be your own self-coach. I use a range of tools including cognitive behavioural, solution focused and motivational interviewing approaches to facilitate change.

As well as a certified coach I am  also a qualified trainer  so can come into your workplace and help you and your team/staff to communicate successfully with others, empowering people with the tools to enhance their mindset and change behaviour patterns. I provide a toolkit of skills to enhance your business and personal life. I help you to self-manage, make behavioural changes for a healthy, positive mindset. I also deliver small focused group coaching workshops from The Coaching Room Flax Bourton.

So if you would like to enhance your skills base to be more effective in personal and working life whether by:

  • managing stress
  • being an effective time manager
  • enhancing influencing and assertiveness skills
  • increasing confidence
  • addressing procrastination
  • having more harmonious relationships
  • positive thinking
  • managing change and increasing personal resilience
  • developing mindfulness practice
  • goal setting

Here are some testimonials:

'I have struggled with anger and stress and the way I deal with conflict my whole life. I tried everything! Hypnotherapy, CBT, counselling but Sarah has taught me how to cope and deal with conflict. I thought I would never get to this point! I feel confident in and out of work. My relationships have improved. I now can be positively assertive. I feel confident that whatever happens I will be alright and will cope.' Lou from Bristol

'What a beautiful and empathetic soul Sarah has. She really cares and truly listens....... She recognises that each individual is different and strives and progresses through different approaches and so builds on what's personal to you. Very flexible, will cater to your needs and requirements. All round superstar. She made me see that I don't have to be perfect, that it is ok to make mistakes and learn from them, and that I should do what meets my values.   Helen Buley, Reading'

'Sarah came in to provide workshops both at Altran UK and for the Rolls-Royce Women's Network. She provided tailor made workshops on work life balance and stress management. They were a mixture of science, facts, audience participation and games. She was extremely informative, knowledgeable, engaging and fun. I would thoroughly recommend Sarah for both your personal and professional coaching needs be it for an individual or for your team. Zoë BOWLT CEng MIMechE, Adv. Consultant, Altran UK'

'Sarah knows her trade, the workshop was well structured, and I found fascinating how much stuff we managed to squeeze in into couple of hours. We covered all the basics regarding areas of importance in one's life, prioritisation, setting the priorities. Also looked at barriers to performance, and explored procrastination and what underpins this. At the end we set goals for the future, and Sarah surprised me with an original idea which I have not came across before... To find out what it was, I highly recommend everyone to attend' Tibor Bicsak, Bristol
