About me

Hi there, I’m James. Thanks for taking the time to view my profile.

I’m a warm, compassionate and highly effective coach with a depth of knowledge and breadth of expertise to best support you on your developmental journey.

In these uncertain times, holding it all together is a bit of a balancing act.

For many of us at the moment, life will be like walking an emotional tightrope hung between two extremes of instability. At one end, we might feel constrained or stuck in a rut; at the other, overwhelmed, chaotic, and lacking control.

Although no easy task, the trick is to remain stable yet flexible; grounded yet able to embrace complexity.

And this is where coaching can really make a difference.

It’s a process to help navigate the uncertainties, complexities, and disruptions of the world we live in; giving you space to breathe, talk, and grow.

I help my clients reconnect with themselves, revitalise stagnating careers, release creativity, and feel energised & courageous about the possibilities in front of them.

I do this with kindness and without judgement; but also with an attentive curiosity. That means assumptions might be challenged; new perspectives taken and old stories rewritten.

Holding it all together is a balancing act, but not one you have to do alone.

Transformation; tackled together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a postgraduate certificate in Coaching Psychology from the University of London and have an academic background in philosophy. With a career spanning over twenty years, I also have a wealth of professional experience that informs my coaching practice. As an educator, I've taught in classrooms, led on the curriculum, been head of whole school wellbeing and run my own education consultancy. Before that I was a 'suit' in the advertising industry, where I recruited, trained and lead teams and managed multimillion-pound budgets. I'm also a trained mindfulness practitioner and try to meditate every day.

As part of my ethical practice, I undergo regular supervision, personal therapy and developmental coaching so as to ensure I am always working at the highest level of professional responsibility.

Other areas of coaching I deal with

  • Self-awareness
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Resilience
  • Growth Mindset

In 'normal times', we'd initially meet for a free 30-minute consultation (also known as a 'discovery' or 'chemistry' session), then contract for a series of 6x 1.5-2hr sessions that would take place weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

However, these aren't normal times, so I'm taking a very flexible approach to my coaching provision and aiming to accommodate the wide range of challenges my clients are facing.

My fees are realistic, competitive and above all negotiable: I take a sympathetic position when discussing rates to ensure affordability (even if that means you pay only what you can afford).

Let's have a conversation and get your coaching journey started.

Here's a few kind comments from previous clients:

"I've been overwhelmed with positive results!"

"At no point during our conversations did I feel judged or like I was being examined, thank you for creating that environment."

"Our sessions gave me faith in coaching! Whilst talking matters through is a very useful practice, the methods of working matters through have had the same positive effect."

"I would definitely recommend you as a coach, I think you’re intuitive and have invaluable insight"

"Our sessions have focussed me on what I want from life."

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a life coach's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the life coach to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Wheelchair user access Unspecified

I have flexible availability across the week, including weekends, for both daytime and evening sessions. Let's find a time that suits you.
