How Coaching can help

A life coach is all about meeting you where you’re at and exploring certain moments versus having expectations or trying to solve your problems.

One of the core competencies of a Coach is direct communication. Part of this is asking questions that challenge a person’s model of the world. For example, when a person makes a statement about how things are, such as a limiting statement about capabilities (“I’m not good at XXX”), I can ask evocative questions that challenge the client to really examine whether their assumption is true and explore other possibilities (“When is a time you were good at XXX?”). Through these challenging questions, a client’s limiting beliefs about their environment, actions, capabilities, choices, what is truly important, their self-identity, and what is possible in the world can be addressed, clearing the way for committed action.

What to expect in your first session

Your first coaching session is primarily all about clarifying how we will work together as coach and coachee – what commitments are expected from both sides, including style of coaching (e.g. how does the coachee wish the coach to respond if they fall behind on their goals, how challenging do they want you to be?), ‘rules’ regarding missed or late arrivals to sessions and addresses issues of confidentiality etc. This stage really is crucial as it forms the foundation of a relationship where there is trust and respect on both sides and firmly placing you as equal partners in this relationship.

We will address the immediate concern and then work on all areas of your life creating balance, clarity and focus. It is important to agree on a programme that is tailored to your needs and how many sessions. Client confidentiality, Terms and Conditions will be signed off.

A pre-coaching questionnaire which asks a series of questions about your background, aspirations, challenges etc.
