Kim Furnish - Instar Life Coaching C.I.C. MSc Positive Psychology
Hi welcome to my page,
I love Life Coaching and I am passionate about self-awareness and personal growth.
My expertise is in relationships, self-care and work/life balance. I have a particular interest in the relationship you have with yourself, what your passion is and whether you are living your life in line with your values.
A taster session in laughter yoga, which led to a meeting with one significant person inspired my interest in Positive Psychology and to study it at Masters level. Positive psychology is the study of happiness, well-being and flourishing. Learning more about positive psychology has increased my levels of positive emotion, joy, awe, and happiness and I have a sharper awareness of my own strengths. I have also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of connection and community.
I have designed a programme of positive psychology education and interventions which I use in my coaching practice and I share in my local community. Instar Coaching C.I.C. aims to use knowledge and skills of positive psychology to bring more positive emotion and less isolation to communities. I provide joyful activities, education workshops, group walking in nature and group laughter sessions to promote a flourishing life.
Group Sessions Online
I would love to share what I have learnt about positive psychology with you on my Positive Psychology for Life courses where we explore topics such as positive emotion, strengths, resilience & self- compassion.
Laughter sessions are an opportunity to play, be a child again and promote health and well-being. Short exercises encourage forced laughter which quickly turns into spontaneous laughter.
Face to face Group sessions
In my Fresh Air Friday’s group session we join together the benefits of walking and coaching which can have a powerful effect on your mind and body. I also provide these online.
I can accompany you on your journey outdoors, walking coaching or more traditionally we can work together indoors.

Positive Psychology For Life
“I really enjoyed connecting with different people. It was really helpful to focus on strengths and build upon these rather than looking at weaknesses”
“I have come away with some interesting, thought provoking information. I liked the way you delivered it in an informal way, it’s not just theory it’s practical as well, you made the group feel safe“
"I was feeling very stuck in my life and Kim’s skill and wisdom have enabled me to explore new paths and view the issues I was experiencing with a new confidence and energy, leading to some unexpected and very positive outcomes."
“When I started coaching, I had a low-grade feeling; I felt depressed, sad, and anxious. I wanted to be happier and I wanted a better relationship with my husband. Through coaching I have developed greater self-awareness and shed a great deal of self-judgement. I have let go of blame (especially blaming others for how I am feeling) and I am taking greater responsibility for myself.
I started working with Kim in preparation for my PhD. Kim has helped me to recognise the root causes of my behaviour and empowered me to explore and work on all aspects of my busy life. She has helped me in my academic life and also to gain boundaries with my friends, family and colleagues that were lacking. Her kind, non-judgmental approach to life events allowed me to come to her with a holistic approach bringing every aspect of my world to the forum; this streamlined my thought processes for the PhD and improves my overall enjoyment of life and work. Kim brings far more to the coaching sessions than the help with academic development than I anticipated and I hope that this partnership spans beyond my time as a student.
“I found that because we were focused with talking and thinking that I was able to achieve more physically than I would if I was walking alone. I love to be out doors and walking coaching does wonders for my mental health’ Donna D.
