Alison Yard - International Coaching Federation Approved Coach
I am dedicated to coaching my clients so that they too can achieve the breakthrough that I experienced from being coached. The clarity and confidence I gained enabled me to become 'unstuck' and move forward to make an impact and be successful in a new leadership role. Coaching allowed me to see where I could make changes and also create a more purposeful, balanced life.
I have held director level roles whilst working in a male dominated business environment. After 25 years as a Chartered Surveyor, I resigned and trained as a Coach. I am an International Coaching Federation Approved Coach and so bound by their Code of Ethics and professional standards.
My life and work experiences have shaped my role as a coach. I coach and have affinity with
Career Autopilot - so many people are demotivated and stuck in unfulfilling work yet resign themselves to plodding on - perhaps out of fear or because it's difficult to figure out the next step. My coaching programme will
Give you the clarity to explore and confirm your professional goals.
Help identify strengths and skill gaps
Allow you to decide and implement a plan to achieve your career goals.
Build confidence and keep you motivated and inspired to achieve your ambitions
Career Women - in many organisations, women continue to be underrepresented in executive and leadership roles. It can be an isolating place. It has been said that it can be lonely at the top. Being a female leader in a male orientated environment can amplify that feeling of loneliness. My insight and empathy equip me to coach women who are either seeking to progress their career, are newly promoted or who are already established in executive roles to
- Examine real and perceived obstacles and decide how to overcome them.
- Put strategies in place to effectively progress a rewarding career.
- Develop a presence and build confidence to stand tall and be yourself.
- Build resilience and better manage work/life balance.
Work/Life Imbalance - Life today is hectic and complex and it can be a challenge to 'keep all the plates spinning'. We don't allow ourselves the time to take stock and consider what we want our future to look like - we are often too busy and drained. My coaching sessions will give you that space and time to think objectively and
- Empower you to shift your mindset and discover where you can make changes
- Enable you to determine your priorities and what you can let go of
- Gain renewed purpose and a sense of worth
- Have more time and energy to take better care of yourself and others
I believe that in order to have career success, life outside of work must also be fulfilling. This balance is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives. So I adopt a 'whole you' coaching style.
I say that -
'Work is an important piece in the jigsaw of life and all of the pieces need to fit together in order for you to enjoy a fulfilled and engaged life'

Areas of coaching I deal with
I offer a complementary, no obligation initial consultation (up to 1 hour) so that I can completely understand what you would like to achieve from having me as your coach. I'll also explain more about coaching, what to expect and how it works. During this consultation we can discuss and agree fees. In order to achieve lasting results, I suggest a minimum of three 1 hour coaching sessions and the typical fee for this is £250. However, the fee will vary according to individual circumstances.
Weekdays. I am also available at weekends and evenings by arrangement.
'I have been coached by Alison since I began a new role. I wanted to give myself the best opportunity to establish myself quickly, build rapport and succeed in this role. I was also very keen to maintain a healthy work/life balance and continue to live a full, enjoyable life outside of work. Through being coached I have built resilience and developed the confidence to speak up. Having Alison as my coach has given me real clarity to see where I can make changes and so progress toward where I want to be – to be fully engaged in all aspects of my life.'
Natalie - Data Scientist Vodafone
'Alison coached me during a stressful period in my life when I was physically and emotionally quite vulnerable. Through her amazing questions and incredible empathy I managed to get stronger and find my confidence again. Thank you Alison for all your help.'
Laura - returning to work mum.
'I have found my coaching sessions with Alison to be extremely helpful in enabling me to focus on the areas I need to develop and explore. Alison has helped me to identify my priorities in terms of avoiding the patterns and behaviours I tend to resort to that are not necessarily positive or advantageous to my role. I started with Alison whilst taking a short career break and she has supported me through this and then through the start of a new role with insightful questioning and appropriate challenge that has helped me self-explore and grow. Alison has facilitated me being able to develop a 'tool kit' of practical and psychological/emotional methods to enhance my work life balance and enable me to be more effective in role
Miriam - Assistant Principal in a large Further Education College.
'Alison coached me during my own ICF coaching certification. Even though I felt I was "all coached out" and that I probably didn't need coaching at the time, I continued working with her. Turns out that during my sessions with her helped me uncover a number of things I was not aware of which really helped me moving forward in my own coaching journey. I highly recommend working with Alison.'
Cornelia - ICF Approved Coach.
