About me

I coach women who want more balance, purpose and fulfilment in their lives, or who want to create a more meaningful and fulfilling career path.

You may have a sense that you've somehow lost touch with who you really are, what's important to you and what lights you up. Perhaps your self-belief and confidence have dipped over the years, to the point where you're no longer sure what you're capable of. You might have been pulled off track by challenging circumstances, or maybe you've just found yourself too busy with everyday life.

What I've found is that many of the challenges that can leave you wanting more from life revolve around the themes of balance, time, purpose or identity:

  • Perhaps you're struggling with the balance between work and home life, between your needs and everybody else's, or between responsibility and fun.
  • You may be finding it hard to carve out time for yourself as you rush from task to task, or you may have a sense that time is racing by and it's now or never if you want to make big changes.
  • Maybe you're lacking a sense of purpose or meaning in your work or your day-to-day activities, or you feel you're drifting through life with no clear direction or goals.
  • Or perhaps you're wrestling with issues of identity - who are you in your forties, in your fifties, in your work, in your relationship, as a mother, or after your children have left home?

How we work together

Coaching is a safe, supportive space where you can step off the hamster wheel for a few hours to explore who you are, what really matters to you and what you want for this next chapter of your life. We'll identify beliefs that may be holding you back and consider alternative perspectives, get clear on your strengths, values and goals, and develop a plan to put you back in the driving seat.

We work together initially for a minimum of six fortnightly (or weekly) sessions: a 90-minute initial "discovery" session, followed by five one-hour sessions. This gives us time to really explore what you want to be different in your life, set some clear goals and take meaningful action towards them.

For career transition coaching, I offer a ten to twelve session programme, with calls taking place either weekly or fortnightly. This can be tailor made to suit your specific needs.

We usually work by telephone (or Skype or Zoom audio) - my clients are often surprised by how powerful working in this way can be and how quickly a strong, intuitive connection is built.

If you'd like to find out more, I offer a free 60-minute introductory call/taster session to talk through how coaching can help and to see whether we feel like a good fit for each other.

What people say about coaching with me:

“The results have been, quite literally, life-changing. Emotionally, Susie has helped me think differently about things that have been weighing me down, allowing me to let go of a painful past and focus on the future positives and possibilities. At work, she's reignited my self-belief and confidence. I'm once again thinking about where I want my career to go, rather than simply surviving day to day. And, I've rediscovered my mojo - I'm now doing the things that I've wanted to do but until now, have been too cautious to embrace. In a nutshell, Susie has helped me bring out my inner Wonder Woman - and, most importantly, in a way that has allowed me to stay true to myself and my values.”

“Why didn’t I do this sooner! I am loving the journey I’m going on with Susie – she’s opening my eyes to discovering more about myself and the opportunities that would be most appropriate for me. I’m interrogating my values, strengths, motivations and so on… all with a view to creating a truly fulfilling career for myself”

Emma Ellins

“Since having coaching with Susie, I can now recognise my strengths and I feel empowered by them. I have been fortunate to have found a new job whilst I’ve been doing my coaching – the interview process enabled me to utilise my new-found confidence and motivation that I have gained over the last few months. Coaching has been the perfect next step for me and I have thoroughly enjoyed the process and results. I know that I am in a completely different place now to how I was at the start of my coaching and I will take everything I have learnt and continue to build on it”.

Louise Scarterfield

"I wanted to find a coach because I felt stuck in both my personal and professional life. I really look forward to our sessions and find having my hour once a fortnight very therapeutic. It gives me time to breathe, reflect on how far I’ve come and where I want to be heading. Susie has a gift at seeing the bigger picture and the blocks you may have, as well as helping you see the insights and lessons learnt along the way. I now have a clear understanding of my values, my passions and my vision, as well as what I want to accomplish. My future is one of excitement and creativity. It’s all in my grasp and I feel that anything is possible now!"

Rachel Stacey-McKay

"I had often read about Life Coaches and was at a time in my life where I was going through the Menopause, my eldest daughter had left home and I was in a job that no longer challenged me. Since that day that I made the initial telephone call to Susie, I have never looked back.

Having Susie as my Life Coach has been totally inspiring and she has helped me unlock my true potential.  She has never judged me but has given me ideas and how to look at things from a different perspective and reminds me that I always have a choice!  She often refers to your “better self” and I am continuing to grow into my better self day by day.  I am now more focused, energised and am aware of my values and aspirations. Thank you Susie for your encouragement, help and undoubting inspiration."

Alison Randall

"A few weeks in, and I don’t recognise my old life. Susie has taken me on a truly inspiring journey of self-discovery. I’ve learned aspects of myself that I didn’t know existed and with Susie’s help I’ve worked on my resilience and inner strength. She’s taught me practical tools to use when I find myself in difficulty again, let’s face it life isn’t a smooth journey! My confidence has been boosted massively since starting our sessions and I now feel that whatever life throws at me, I’d be able to rise above it.”

Sara Whitehead

"Coaching with Susie is a breath of fresh air. As a self-employed woman of a certain age who works 6 or 7 days a week and cares for a disabled husband, the pressure is often suffocating. I was so stuck 'busily doing' I had no time to even consider how I was feeling or what I wanted. I admit that carving out time for coaching, at first, felt impossible, but I have come to gasp for the space, time and perspective it gives me. Having an hour to focus on ME has been transformational. I have realized that I am doing OK - in fact, more than OK and I feel more confident, capable and inspired as a result.”

"If you are interested in coaching and are considering a career change, then I would recommend working with Susie. I wanted to focus on a better work life balance, as I was feeling quite lost, needing direction and not fully in control of a lot of things. Having completed my sessions with Susie, I have a more positive mindset and am more aware of how to manage my emotions. I have more in my armoury to deal with life. I'm also a lot more self-aware. I recognise that I need to look after myself if I'm to successfully look after those around me and this has been a real shift. Coaching with Susie feels like a "safe place" and you can be open and honest, as she listens without judgement. I loved the sense of being on a journey together and not feeling like you're on your own - and I love that I can reach out to her as and when I may need to. A wonderfully insightful experience."

Kate Hearn

"Before I started coaching with Susie I was going round in circles and feeling really frustrated - I wasn't enjoying life to the full, but I lacked the direction and confidence to do anything about it. I had got myself into a kind of paralysis. Looking back, I probably thought doing nothing was less scary than failing at something. Coaching with Susie is like watching yourself from above. Sometimes we just can't see the wood for the trees. The biggest change I've noticed is that I have renewed self-belief and now see myself for the confident and capable woman I am, with lots still to offer the world and the people around me. I feel ready to give things a go. To get out there again. I feel optimistic and really rather excited at the thought of where I may end up."

"Prior to my coaching with Susie I was at a crossroads, but I wasn't sure why. My eldest was looking at universities and my youngest was moving into the grunting stage of teens. I felt lucky, but I felt trapped. I was flat, demotivated and questioning if this was all life had to offer. I knew I had to take some control back of my life and try and fathom a way out of my rut. Since working with Susie I've been able to clear my fog. I'm able to make decisions without dithering, I'm much more organised with my time (I see it as my most valuable resource now), I have a plan and that's given me focus. As I look forward to the next stage of my life, I feel no fear, I know I'm going to be OK - more than OK! My children moving into their next chapter is a point to celebrate not fear. It's my time now."

Linzi Brocklesby

“The experience has been liberating. Susie has helped me develop simple strategies, using imagery and visualisation, to use in situations that cause anxiety. I have a tendency to think negatively and she has helped me turn around the way I view situations, which has been transformative. I am excited to see how I have progressed in my work, tackling challenges I really thought would be impossible. I can highly recommend Susie and coaching as a way to move forward and overcome barriers."

“I have been coaching with Susie for the past 6 months and it has been a very insightful journey. My key area of focus was career where she helped me to visualise more clearly what I wanted, build my confidence in what was possible and crystallise the next steps. I appreciate the fact that she has a very warm and caring style, yet she is not afraid to call me out when needed! I had one particularly powerful experience of coaching with Susie which enabled me to shed some anxiety that had been holding me back for most of my life. I felt a massive sense of freedom after that coaching and it has had a lasting impact on me. I would highly recommend anyone to coach with Susie as I truly believe that you will benefit from her experience and the genuine care that she holds for her clients.”
