About me

We all face change. Sometimes we choose it, sometimes it is thrust upon us. Whether or not you have chosen the change before you, I can help you reclaim what's most important to you, and support you through the challenge.

My Clients

Currently I work with women and men, many from the creative sector, some from business and law, on a range of personal and professional issues. Most are navigating difficult change. Some examples:

  • A theatre director returning to a fiercely competitive profession after maternity leave.
  • A lawyer wanting to reinvigorate her career and rediscover her artistic pursuits.
  • A radio producer looking to change his job and be more present to his family.
  • A mother dying of cancer, and her daughter, wanting to manage and enrich their difficult journey.

End-Of-Life Coaching

I am developing my practice to coach people, or those closest to them, facing a serious or terminal diagnosis.

My end-of-life coaching is a profound conversation outside of medical jargon designed to reclaim stability, focus and calm in an otherwise overwhelming situation. I enable people to hold this great change in the spirit of acceptance, not failure, so that fulfilment, gratitude and wonder are possible.

Why Me?

I have always been able to sit with the strong emotions people experience around illness and dying in a way others cannot. People gravitate toward me when they are grieving, and I feel called to provide the support that is so often lacking.

When my father chose to die in his own home, I cared for him daily during this time. When my teenage nephew died I was able to have difficult conversations with those who had experienced losing a child.

My interest is that people reclaim their voice in a death-phobic culture - to die well, to heal, we must all tell our story.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Professional co-active coach – The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) 2008 and 2015
  • Graduate of Landmark Forum Curriculum
  • Trained practitioner of The Chimp Paradox mind management model

I come from a different background to most coaches - I am an actor and have been successfully working in film, television, theatre and radio for 27 years. As such I have perfected the tools of resilience having dealt with constant change, sudden success, uncertainty and rejection throughout my career. And as an actor I am naturally curious about, and non-judgemental of people.

I trained in Method Acting and Movement Psychology (Stanislavsky, Jung and Laban). I have years of experience in long-form improvisation (Meisner technique), voice training and breath control. This, alongside my coaching training listed above, allows me to bring a unique blend of creativity, body awareness and neuroscience to my sessions.

I often use these skill sets to help business people with public speaking, interview focus and building resilience.

Additional information

I ask clients to commit to an initial 6 sessions and then review progress. Sessions occur every two weeks. This allows us to build a strong relationship, and for you to gain momentum and continuity with your work around goals and direction. Many clients book a further 3 months, some ‘check in’ afterwards with the occasional single session.

Session rate: £80 (the first ‘discovery session’ is 2 hours at £120)

A free sample session of 45 mins is available.

The above should be treated as a guide – reduced rates are possible under special circumstances.

Testimonials

Silas coached me and my mother during the last 6 months of her life. He helped her accept and process her feelings around dying, and enabled some profound conversations between us that otherwise would not have happened. He eased the drama around death with his candid and loving approach. Beyond the coaching he offered us unconditional support for the last 3 weeks when my mother was in a hospice. I felt deeply scared by the horrific way cancer was eating away at my mum – during this time Silas’ coaching helped enormously. He made me feel safe. I will never be able to thank him enough for what he did.

L.D – Therapist.

C.M - Lawyer, Appleby Global.

Having started my own company I needed to maximize its and my own potential. With Silas as my coach my turnover doubled almost immediately! We approached each blockage with patience and creativity and Silas found releases that were specific to my needs. My communication with clients has flourished, my company has expanded, and I now have a great sense of joy and ownership in my life and work.

N.S – Director, Mumbo Jumbo Ltd

Silas was invaluable in helping me to boost my business. His fresh approach meant that I found myself addressing areas and asking questions about the business that had previously been ‘out of sight’. Time and money very well spent!
