Hello, I’m Russ. I’m a coach but I prefer to describe myself as a ‘self-help facilitator’ or human Sat Nav (of positive change), as this describes the coaching process I adopt to empower people like you - who may feel you’re not on the right path in life, or are struggling with health, identity or career blocks - to discover your ‘new’ direction and make positive change in your life. I want you to feel happier! I affectively collapse time for you to ensure you get where you want to get to sooner rather than later.

Whilst my coaching works for everyone, I specialise in supporting MEN of all ages at a cross roads in their life, perhaps feeling lost, stressed, burnt out or treading water. Whether that’s career, lifestyle, health, relationships or simply life path. We create ACTION for that change. We figure out WHO YOU ARE and WHAT YOU WANT. You will explore and redefine your goals. Through small steps you will find a better direction and regain a sense of control.

Helping others is my purpose and passion. But it wasn’t always this way. I have been on my own journey of self-discovery and have plenty of life experience to call upon. I know what it’s like to have had a difficult upbringing with caregivers who have perhaps let you down, or you may never have received the quality guidance you deserve.

Perhaps you’ve floated through life but never found your passions, and are unsure of the next step. You’re lacking in confidence as a result. This was me. In 2015, I was burnt-out from my career, I had developed chronic health problems (stress-invoked nervous system dysregulation) as a result of my lifestyle and - quite frankly - my mindset; I had limiting beliefs and suppressed emotional trauma as a result of my childhood. I was absorbed with negative self-talk, anxious and overwhelmed and I felt that I was ‘stuck’ and didn’t have a purpose or direction. I existed but I wasn’t living my life in a way that felt authentic. Let’s say, I wasn’t very compassionate or kind to myself!

I tried my best to untangle my unhappiness with work, trying career change from public to private and back again, full-time – part-time and even relocations but fundamentally I didn’t know what success for me looked like. I needed guidance, steering, not from a multitude of self-help books but from WITHIN. I just didn’t know how. I wanted happiness and fulfilment I just didn’t know how to reach it consistently.

How I turned it around

Initially I was resistant to external help believing that I just had to ‘get on with it’, push and work harder to make things work! I thought coaching or mentoring was for someone else and that my situation was just something I had to figure out myself.

How wrong could I have been. I now know through my coaching education that I had all the tools & resources I needed to find my way. I was just lacking a coaching framework and the understanding of how our mind-body connection is pivotal to health and wellbeing.

I sought coaching help and through that transformational process I discovered the purpose that I had been chasing all my life was right in front of my nose. Now, I understand how to focus on self-care and my mental health. I’m in control of my health and my emotions, how I spend my time and where my energy goes. The way I see the world and myself has changed irrevocably.

I had always been a creative problem solver and helping others, whether individually or in groups, brought me the most fulfilment. So, once I had dealt with the inevitable imposter syndrome, coaching became my true calling. Like most I am a work-in-progress but I believe in working on the small steps that over time allow us to grow.

I explain the coaching process, how I work and your commitment during the first free ‘discovery’ session (online or phone). Every session you go away with something we choose together to work on.

What I do NOT do

  • Direct or mentor (this is a different method)
  • Judge (non-judgemental)
  • Give opinion (what I think is irrelevant)
  • Sympathise (not counselling – empathetic listening)
  • Pressurise (you alone are accountable for any agreed actions – what you put in, is what you get out. I will encourage you to challenge your existing thinking)
  • Lie! (I will always be honest and truthful with you - if I think you need other tailored help or if you have gained what you need from my coaching it may be time to fly the nest!)

I will be here to support you all the way and act as your cheerleader and sounding-board.

Who I work with

I only work with people who are committed and open to change and to the coaching process. You will be responsible for your own self-development but I will provide accountability and ongoing reflection.

Together we will work on setting achievable outcomes, removing any barriers and reaching your desired goals.

It can be challenging as you discover your new path but the rewards are life-changing. The first steps are the hardest but little by little your small agreed actions build up to become game changers.

I know what it feels like when you recognise you need help but you’re not sure what or from whom. I understand being hesitant to reach out. But you’ve already made that first important step which will shape your positive future. Investing in yourself is not only allowed, it is vital for growth.

I get a huge buzz from seeing these transformations and watching clients in a happier, healthier state of mind.

Many people question the value of a life coach and think they can achieve the same outcomes by researching common theories themselves. I was one of these – how wrong could I have been! Whilst I wouldn’t discourage this self-guiding work, by working with me, clients soon appreciate the value that a coach brings them.

My programs are designed to be short and cost-effective because I want to empower you to help yourself going forwards and not to rely on me. The skills you learn in our short time together will last you a lifetime. All coaching sessions take place online, and you can choose between 1, 4, or 8 sessions in your package. Sessions usually happen weekly, but this can be customised.

Whichever package you choose, your coaching journey will be unique and you`ll receive tailored advice and resources depending on your goals.
