About me

Coaching is a powerful, goal-driven process that helps you find your own solutions to life's challenges, allowing you to get from where you are now to where you want (and deserve!) to be. If you are looking for perspective and renewed confidence, struggling to find clarity of thought, or need help to become 'unstuck', let go of self-destructive behaviour or need to understand why relationships are not working, coaching could help.

We all live with personal paradigms; patterns of behaviour that are set during childhood, and which impact the way we act, react, behave and feel in certain situations.

These paradigms are invisible to us. As a Transformational Coach I can help you identify these paradigms, unpick them and form new and more productive habits to help you advance in your career, or repair and create deeper relationships.

Unravel muddled thinking and experience 'eureka' moments when you finally see the way forward. Accept responsibility for your own life - your reactions and behaviour. Discover, and finally believe, that you are 'enough'.

Coaching can be an emotional experience but I'll create a safe and entirely non-judgemental space in which to explore and order your thoughts and feelings. I'll travel alongside you all the way.  And of course, complete confidentiality is assured.

I am based in the Highlands of Scotland and in Edinburgh but work elsewhere (UK and beyond) online.

Other areas of coaching I deal with

Transformational Coaching.
People come to coaching because they want to do different things or to do things differently.
We all live our lives through personal paradigms which are often set at an early age. These can be helpful, or can hold us back.
Identifying and unfreezing unhelpful paradigms can help us to let go of undesirable behaviour and free us up to find new and better ways of operating.
It's not a quick fix, but it is - as the name suggests - transformational!

Additional information

My fees represent the value to you of my time, but more than that, of my training, expertise and experience. Individual and corporate rates apply.

It's important that you understand my style of coaching, and our respective roles. Mine is to bring the coaching process, yours is to commit to your own personal development and to desire to change. I offer a free initial 20-minute session so we can find out more about each other before we commit.

Sessions are each an hour long and tend to take place at least a week or two apart, as much of the 'hard work' of coaching happens between sessions as changes in your way of thinking begin to settle. Sessions are generally online, but I offer walking coaching sessions for those who are local to the Inverness area, and who find it easier to think while their bodies are active.

I encourage clients to commit to at least six sessions, although as a client you 'pay as you go' from the start, with no minimum commitment.

"I wish everyone could find a “Nicky Marr”. The strength she gave me was wonderful, and over and above what I expected. I looked forward to our sessions, I always came away with a spring in my step, optimism and keys to help unlock the block that I had started the session with."

VC, Company Director, London, March 2022

"You have changed my life. I don't know if I will ever be able to thank you enough."

TT, Company Director, Moray. Nov 2021.

"Everybody needs a Nicky in their life. I am so glad I found you!"

MW, Healthcare worker, Highlands. Dec 2021.

"In just three sessions so far, Nicky helped me:

  • kick fear out the door (literally!)
  • unpick the unnecessary guilt from my grieving
  • discover that I already have all the skills, knowledge and experience to start my new project, and so much more!

I didn't know what to expect, but this is profound. Nicky is humble and kind, and what makes her extra special is her genuine compassion."

Renate, Dunbar,  April 2021

"Bless you for all you’ve given me over the past few weeks, really has been a positive experience all round."
Anon, March 2021

"I’ve never had a “life coach” before, and wasn’t sure what to expect. Nicky has a great knack of creating a safe, trusted, welcoming “space” to open up in. The things that are pressing, are allowed to come to the fore, and we work through solutions there and then. Nicky has helped in ways I couldn’t have begun to have envisaged. I have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in recommending her. Do it! It will help change your life.”

NC, Company Director, Hertfordshire

"Simply put, Coaching with Nicky has been the best thing I have done in this stage of my life! From the first meeting, Nicky put me at ease with her warmth of character and conversation. Immediately, I knew that I could open up and speak about my feelings of ‘being stuck’, ’not being good enough’ and my deep rooted lack of self confidence. After the first couple of sessions, I had a better understanding of myself and my thinking. Through careful and considerate listening and asking the right question at the right time, Nicky was able to get me unstuck. Something that I thought was unobtainable and miles away was actually only a few small steps in front of me.

I can’t thank Nicky enough for what she has unlocked. Things are falling in place, like never before, all because she encouraged me to take that first small step. That step for you, may just be picking up the phone or writing that email and starting your own journey with Coaching with Nicky."
GM,  Caithness. September 2020

"There something that I always wanted to do but couldn't just seem to do it! The desire to achieve this personal goal was almost physical and felt like a tight lump lodged in my solar plexus.

Nicky very quickly helped me see for myself that my goal was both a true desire of mine and achievable. I was surprised to find out what was the main obstacle to fulfilling my goal and delighted when Nicky used a very effective tool with me to surmount that obstacle. After just four sessions with Nicky, a few tears and some revelations, I felt I had discovered within myself all that I needed to start on the path to successfully achieve my goal. The knot in my solar plexus just melted away. I can't recommend Nicky highly enough and I plan on using her coaching service again in the future when the need arises."
NC, Inverness. July 2020

"In my first session with Nicky, I explained to her that I had lost my job, my lifestyle and my confidence. I felt so stuck when I tried to consider what to do next. I confessed to Nicky that the only thing I now knew that I really wanted to do, was to pursue stand-up comedy. I felt like it was a silly, fantastical goal. Nicky was totally without judgement and helped me to explore my goals with positivity and optimism.

I used to think of my situation as “the end of the road”. Thanks to Nicky’s coaching, I now see it as the end of the chapter and the beginning of an exciting new one.

Critically, Nicky’s coaching also helped me gain confidence in sharing my real goals with my friends and family. I am happy to say that my loved ones have been supportive and I have a new energy in pursuing what I really want to do with my life. Nicky is warm and easy to talk to. My gratitude to her for her time, guidance and gentle challenge cannot be understated and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone that is feeling lost or stuck.
Thank you, Nicky!"
