About me
I'm Ruman, a psychology informed coach. That means I dig deep to uncover the actual blocks that are stopping you from moving forward, rather than just skimming the surface, and then put the right tools in place to help you shift.
I work with people who are self aware and usually pretty capable in life, but who find themselves stuck in the same place, knowing exactly what they should do and still not doing it. That gap between insight and action is where most of my coaching happens.
Before this I spent over twenty years in education, including several years as a Head of Year, so I've spent a lot of my working life sitting with people while they work through hard things. Psychology has been part of my life for nearly thirty years now, going back to A Level, through my degree, and all the way through my teaching career. I'm currently doing an MSc in Coaching Psychology and working toward EMCC accreditation, so I'm building on that foundation rather than starting from scratch.
I don't believe in fixing people or telling them what to do. I think most of us are carrying different, sometimes conflicting parts of ourselves, and a lot of the stuckness comes from one part fighting another rather than anything being broken. My job is to help you notice that and work with it, not around it.
What it lets me help clients with, in practice
- Understanding the actual psychological block behind a stuck pattern, rather than just planning around it
- Working through the gap between insight and action, since knowing something intellectually and being able to act on it are different psychological processes
- Confidence and identity work
- Career and life transitions where old patterns or self concept get in the way of a decision
- Internal conflict, where someone feels torn between wanting two different things or being two different versions of themselves in different contexts
What it's not
Psychology informed doesn't mean therapy or treatment. It means the coaching is grounded in psychological understanding of how change happens, while still staying future focused and goal oriented rather than treating past trauma or diagnosing anything, which stays outside a coach's scope.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm halfway through an MSc in Coaching Psychology and working toward EMCC Practitioner accreditation. Alongside that I bring over twenty years in education, including time as a Head of Year and teaching A Level Psychology, so I've had a long run of helping people to gain insight and achieve their goals.
I've coached a range of clients on things like confidence, decision making, finance, and finding their way through career changes.
