Gill Coombs Coach/Counsellor
I support people in bringing about a better world in joyful ways: whether through their work, voluntary activities, or simply how they choose to live their lives. Warm, supportive and perceptive, I'll support you in gaining confidence in your innate skills, bringing your work/life into alignment with your values, and/or turning eco-anxiety into action. 10 years' experience; many happy clients (see below for reviews).
I can help you:
- Clarify and plan the next phase of your life
- Recognise and work with blocks that stop you moving forward
- Resolve difficult workplace issues
- Develop personal confidence
- Develop resilience for stressful times
- Build effective working relationships
- Identify your values, passions, qualities and unique skills
- Apply for jobs and prepare for interviews
- Plan and start your own business
- Explore that elusive sense of purpose, whatever it means for you...
...and much more!
You could be at any stage of life: finishing education and deciding what to do next; seeking a change of direction; looking for support with difficult workplace issues; or wanting to make good use of your retirement.
You probably have an interest in work that's aligned with your values, and contributes something positive to the world. And it doesn't all have to be about work: all areas of life impact on each other!
I draw on coaching, counselling, and mentoring as appropriate. I work holistically, acknowledging other areas of your life that affect your work. Warm, insightful, and encouraging, I'll offer you a carefully considered blend of challenge and support. I draw on a wide range of approaches and activities, depending what suits each client best, to help you find your own answers and achieve your goals.
I live and work in various places, so sessions are usually on Skype/Zoom etc unless by special arrangement.
Typically an initial agreement for six sessions, weekly or fortnightly, with the option for further sessions if required. We'll make a plan to suit you the first time we meet. Free initial conversation to see if we're suited.
My work is informed by a passionate belief that work should and can be a fulfilling experience that draws on our skills and passions, and contributes something positive to the world. 15 years experience in organisational coaching and recruitment, 10 years in private practice. What clients say:
'I came to Gill as I needed someone with wide experience in various personal development tools like NLP, Personality Typing/MBTI, life coaching, as well as a holistic and spiritual person-centred approach. I was able to shift long term procrastination into finally taking action and managed to create a website which had been in planning for three years because "it had to be perfect". With her support, I was also able to step out of my introverted world which left me socially isolated, and start confidently meeting new people. It was a scary thing to do but I trusted Gill's intuition, and she was spot on when she suggested what could really be beneficial to me.' (Yann)
'Gill has been excellent at helping me take the first steps in creating my own business venture, something that I have wanted to do for many years, and has helped turn the courage of my convictions into an actionable plan. Gill is an astute and effective listener and able to gently and assertively pull up by the roots what is really going on.' (Paul)
'Working with Gill over the past few weeks has been incredibly invaluable. She is very perceptive, and has helped me move forward from a difficult time, which I didn’t believe would be possible. Gill has provided me with the support, insight and tools I needed to work through my life/career challenges, for which I am very grateful.' (Claire)
'Gill has a deep understanding about people and the world we live and work in; her quiet perceptiveness and ability to truly listen enabled me to quickly focus on the issues which were significant to the impasse in which I had found myself. Gill's kind and professional manner allowed me to trust her with my most sensitive feelings. Whatever happens next for me, this experience has been a profoundly valuable turning point.' (Frances)
'My work with Gill has been deeply significant and often surprising. She is extremely insightful and brings together great expertise and skill in a sensitive and effective way. Gill very quickly tailored her approach to our coaching work in a way that fits my personality and the particular issues we are working with really well. She brings humour, compassion and professionalism into the coaching relationship and I always feel supported by her.' (Helen)
'By giving me a safe and nurturing space in which to explore my calling, Gill enabled me to rediscover a greater confidence in a more authentic me, and to channel my skills into fulfilling work. After each session I left with greater clarity and renewed energy to share with those around me.' (Patrick)
'Gill has a gift for asking the right questions in the right way. Her approach helped me reframe a sense of defeat into an experiment with a new direction. She also helped me define what it is I want to get from my work. All this helped me to see that I could meet my objectives in ways I hadn't previously considered.' (Richard)
'Gill is very good at developing life coaching based on the individual’s personality rather than a one size fits all model. She has greatly helped me to understand how I naturally operate, the strengths and blind spots I possess and the opportunities to use this insight to better achieve my goals.I have been surprised by the insights I have gained, beyond what I was expecting.' (Emily)
'Although I only had one session with Gill, she seemed to catch the essence of my dilemma quickly, and what was in my way within myself, and lead me to some clarity about what options to explore next. All within an hour!' (Kamali)
Gill's holistic approach, coupled with her depth of experience and knowledge have allowed me to really explore and develop - to reconnect with my inner self. As a non-linear thinker Gill's methods have worked really well, this has been achieved by her understanding of diverse thinking. My work with Gill is ongoing, I always end sessions with some new wisdom about myself and the world I wish to live in.' (Teresa)
