Three ways to ingenuously find ways to achieve

The road most travelled is often the route of choice for many looking to achieve, however, the real success stories come from those who have used a little creativity to get where they want to be.

It’s a shame that in primary school and secondary school we’re taught to harness our creativity but many of us leave these skills behind when we step into the adult world. Instead we find ways to conform to be accepted as the norm, when, in reality these creative skills could seriously boost our lives and careers.

Here are three ways to tap into that childhood creativity, you’ll be surprised at what options open to you once you see things from a different angle.

Find your creative passion

To encourage our creativity to flow, we need to nurture it, just like you’d nurture a thirst for knowledge. Even if you don’t consider yourself to be a creative person, you can still find ways to exercise that side of your brain. Choose your poison. It could be painting, cooking, baking, gardening, website design, leaflet design or even doodles on your diary. Staying in touch with our creative side ensures it’s always there when we need it.

Dare to be different

Consider a blank job application. It sits on an employer’s desk and on face value it looks like every other regardless of the juicy contents inside. Now if one job application stood out amongst the rest, what would the employer do? What would you do? The employer of course would pick it up immediately as their interest would be peaked. They wouldn’t wait until the end of the day to sort through the pile of applications, they’d want to know more about the person who stood out from the crowd.

You are your own best salesperson, you already know this, now you need to harness your differences to show why you deserve to be listened to

Be inspired

Some of the most memorable creative events derive from inspiration. Shakespeare didn’t dream up his plays on his own, he actually stole the ideas from Faustus, he just had better ways of getting his plays known. Aled Jones didn’t sing the snowman anthem, he just had a better face for the camera. As it shows it’s not about what you have but how you pitch it to the world. Gain inspiration from entrepreneurs and those in the shoes that you’d like to walk in. Learn from the best and find out how they used creativity to excel, you’ll soon find your own creative juices flowing.
