Start now to give next year the start it deserves

Yesterday I connected with someone new. A simple message. A brief exchange. And within hours, he had committed to a three-month coaching journey that we started today. That’s the power of taking action!

No overthinking; not building 47 pros-and-cons lists; not waiting for the “perfect” time that never actually comes. Just a clear, confident decision to move forward.

So many people forget that progress rarely begins with an epiphany, grand plan or lightning-bolt moment of motivation. It begins with one decision. One message. One “yes.”

This chap didn’t know me 24 hours ago. He knew he needed some help to develop and grow into the role he wanted, but hewasn’t “ready.” He didn’t have all the answers. He just knew that something needed to change, and that the cost of doing nothing had started to outweigh the fear of getting it wrong.

And that’s a turning point most people never reach until they’ve already hit the wall. And the truth is that's because you can tell yourself you’ll start next month, or after that project ends, or when life “settles down” a bit. But deep down, you know life will never really settle enough to be perfect "change time"!

There will always be another demand, another email or another person needing your time, your energy, your attention. Meanwhile, your own goals, your clarity, your energy and your focus (and your peace) just keep slipping further down the list.

Is this sounding familiar?

So here’s my question for you: When the calendar flips to January, do you want to feel stuck in the same place… or do you want to feel focused, confident, and proud of the progress you’ve made?

Because the truth is, we’ve still got time. Plenty of it, actually.

We’ve got nearly three months left in the year, and that’s more than enough to build serious momentum.

It’s enough time to:

  • rebuild your focus
  • reconnect with your purpose
  • stop running on fumes
  • create habits that protect your energy instead of draining it

You don’t need a full year to turn things around. You just need a few weeks of consistent, guided action from someone who has most likely been in very similar shoes to yours!

And that’s exactly what this new client chose to do. He didn’t wait for 1st January, he decided his reset starts now.

He told me something powerful on our first call:

“I’ve been thinking about coaching for months. But I realised that thinking about it wasn’t getting me anywhere. I was just stuck in my own head.”

That hit home for me, because it’s what I see all the time. High-performing, intelligent people who are brilliant at leading teams, running businesses, and solving complex problems, but when it comes to their own growth, they hesitate.

They tell themselves they can figure it out alone. They say they don’t have time. They wait for motivation to strike.

And before they know it, another six months have passed. The stress has gone or changed. The same habits continue, and the same feeling of “I know I could be doing better than this.”

... as Albert Einstein said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results!"

And it isn't a lack of discipline or drive, it’s just what happens when life moves fast and you’ve built your success on reacting and firefighting instead of allowing yourself time to recalibrate. But that can change quickly.

The right coaching doesn’t just give you accountability. It gives you clarity. It helps you see what’s actually holding you back, not the surface-level excuses, but the real underlying patterns. It helps you build systems that align with how your brain naturally works, so you stop fighting yourself and start making progress that actually sticks.

And more importantly, it helps you reconnect with the version of you that doesn’t just cope, but leads, thrives, and feels in control again.

That’s what this new client will be doing over the next 12 weeks.

By Christmas, he’ll look back at October and think, “That was the moment everything started to shift.”

And that could be your story too.

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to decide that this isn’t where you want to stay. So before you close this post and scroll on, pause for a second. Ask yourself honestly:

If nothing changes between now and December, how will you feel when you wake up on January 1st?

If the answer is “not good,” then you already know what to do.

Take one small action today.

  • send the message
  • book the call
  • start the conversation
  • commence the journey

Momentum starts with one movement. One foot in front of the other and repeat!

And if you’re ready to move but you’re not sure where to begin, that’s what life coaches are here for.

When you've found a coach you want to connect with, send them a message and talk about what’s been getting in your way and what’s possible if you decide to stop waiting because by the time the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, you could either be stuck replaying the same old patterns… or standing confidently at the start of the new year with energy, clarity and focus; knowing that this time, you actually followed through.

The difference is just one decision. Make it today.
