Well-being: Have we created a trend instead of healing?

We live in an era of buzzwords, where entire industries are built around catchphrases like "well-being" and "self-care." But while these words may make us think that we're making progress towards a healthier mental and physical state, it can be detrimental to those who have a lot more going on under the surface.

What is well-being, really?

When we talk about well-being and self-care, we tend to focus on the physical aspects: eating healthy, exercising, and getting enough rest. These are all excellent habits for maintaining good health. But there's a lot more to well-being than just taking care of your body.

Internal well-being is just as important as physical well-being. It includes things like working through trauma or creating new mindset perspectives, understanding yourself better, and cultivating deeper connections with others. Unfortunately, these topics don't always get talked about in the same breath as "well-being" and "self-care."

The truth is that when it comes to healing from trauma and managing our mental and emotional health, the process can take time and often requires professional help. Just because the phrase is trendy doesn't mean it's an easy fix.

It's important to remember that well-being isn't a one-size-fits-all concept; what works for some may not work for others. It takes time to find out what works best for you, and that's okay. Be gentle with yourself as you journey towards well-being and healing.

Take it slow, focus on your inner well-being, and explore different strategies until you find something that resonates with you deeply. Don't forget: well-being is more than just a buzzword -- it's about taking care of your mental, physical, and emotional health in equal measure. That means devoting time to understanding yourself better and working through any trauma or situation that is holding you back.

At the end of the day, well-being should never be about fitting into a trend or living up to certain standards; it's about taking care of yourself and finding what works best for you. So don't let buzzwords distract you from your journey towards well-being and healing. Don't be afraid to take your time and find what works best for you!

By better understanding well-being, we can all work together towards long-term mental and physical health. We can also reduce the stigma associated with anxiety, fear and traumas and help create an environment where well-being is accessible to everyone, regardless of catchphrases or trends.

Our emotions are here to guide us and when we feel uncomfortable, it is usually a sign that we need to look a little deeper and address the underlining cause. This is our responsibility and while we can sometimes feel like going to the gym or eating right is one step closer to creating 'a temple' out of our body, the emotions and blocks can still live inside of us if we shy away from the initial problem. It's essentially like, if create a spillage in the kitchen and mop up in the garden, the spillage is still in the kitchen regardless.

Let's start to embrace well-being in its entirety - both internally and externally - so that as a collective we can start to grow as individuals but also find compassion and empathy within our communities.
