Hello, I'm Shum. I have over 5 years' experience of coaching and have helped a variety of people achieve their full potential in career and leadership development in the healthcare setting.

Professional experience:

I am a Consultant in Emergency Medicine.  As a doctor, I communicate with a variety of people of diverse social and cultural environment within an Emergency Department. As a Consultant, I lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering care and involved with training medical students and trainee doctors. I have a vast experience of helping people through the journey in their various careers and transition to different roles and career ladder. I very much enjoy talking to people and help them reach their potential in their chosen role or career as well as have a work-life balance.

Coaching expertise in career development:

I offer coaching in career development, including CV guidance, preparing for interviews and performance at interviews, transition into different roles at various levels in the healthcare career structure. This would be to develop confidence in the workplace, develop interview skills for any healthcare job at different levels and developing leadership skills in the workplace in any healthcare discipline.

Coaching on applications and preparation for job interviews in healthcare:

I will be able to help you navigate your way into a career in the healthcare. I am able to coach you in preparation for application to medical schools, and other healthcare professions. I have the skills to prepare you for interview for university medical and other healthcare courses; prepare you for interview for national training programmes and apprenticeships. I have acquired the skills to help bring out your skills during the job application and the interview process. I will be able to coach you to prepare yourself for the Consultant interview, for the next promotional job.

Coaching on communication and presentation skills to succeed in the work place and at clinical examinations in healthcare:

I have a broad experience of preparing individuals for OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations) examinations. Developing communication skills and confidence in talking to people and succeeding in presenting to a varying audience.

Coaching on life style and getting the work-life balance:

I will be able to help you build ways to enjoy a work-life balance and be effective and productive at work and outside of work, with the limited time that may be available. I would help you motivate and meet those strict deadlines at work, on courses and for anything else. 

Coaching you for that promotion and through your undergraduate or postgraduate course:

I have acquired the knowledge and skills to coach individuals to perform well in their roles or getting into a different role or promotion. Also, I have the skills to coach you through courses that you may be undertaking at undergraduate and postgraduate levels or for apprenticeship etc.
