Testimonials

Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you to Pat – without her wisdom and guidance I would be in a very different place now!!

I first contacted her summer of 2023, following a merger at work, which had brought a lot of upheaval, insecurity and some peers in my direct work sphere who I found to be incredibly challenging, and who triggered a first Imposter Syndrome response in me.

Every day I felt like I didn’t have the skills to deal with this, and decided I either needed to do something constructive, or leave.  This is where Pat comes in.

When we first spoke, she quickly helped me navigate the emotion and the tears, and gave me some techniques to deal with it, and most importantly the confidence to believe in myself again. I soon learnt that I needed to ensure I had a pen and paper to hand, as she was going to set homework!  Those tasks really helped reinforce the things we spoke about, and kept the coping techniques front of mind between conversations.

We had 4 * 30 minutes sessions over about 6 weeks, and that was enough to have got me through the Imposter Syndrome crisis, and to be equipped with the tools to both spot it approaching in future, and how to deal with it if it crept up on me.  Almost 3 years later, I still have a post-it stuck on the wall in front of my desk with the word “Gremlins” on it!  And I quite often find myself thinking “what would Pat say” when I find myself feeling challenged!!

Over the last few years, we’ve continued to speak periodically, and I am always amazed at the good a 30 minute conversation can do – sometimes we need a reminder of the basics, and Pat always remembers what works for me, and is not afraid to challenge me, take me back out of comfort zone whilst making sure that she provides the right level of safety net!
