About me

Career Coaching

I’m a qualified Coach and NLP Practitioner, with a background in Employment Law. I typically work with mid to senior management professionals who are struggling with issues to do with their career direction, progression, performance, work-life balance, work wellbeing, professional relationships and more.

Maybe you’re:

  • Not enjoying what you do and feeling increasingly unhappy and unfulfilled. You want to make a change, but you don’t know what to do or how to do it.
  • Keen to progress but fearful of not being good enough. You want to feel confident in yourself and what you do.
  • Struggling to be noticed and feeling undervalued and underappreciated. You want to be recognised and rewarded for your work.
  • Lacking in energy and motivation and losing your spark. You want to feel energised and inspired, with a zest for your work and life.
  • Feeling overworked and overwhelmed, constantly stressed and exhausted. You want to do your job, and do it well, but you want more time for yourself and other things that matter to you too.
  • Struggling to manage your work alongside other aspects of your life, (such as family, friendships, parenting, caring, hobbies, health issues), and burning out. You want to recover a sense of wellbeing and control over your work and life.
  • Not getting along with your manager or one of your colleagues and finding it emotionally draining. You want to be able to work together in ways that work for you, personally and professionally.
  • Being made redundant and feeling lost and confused. You want to manage your emotions and make the best of the situation.
  • About to go on maternity/parental leave and concerned about the impact on your career. You want to prepare for your leave and set yourself up for success at home and on your return to work.
  • Returning to work after maternity/parental leave and finding it difficult to bring your career and parenting roles into alignment. You want to feel confident in your decisions and your performance at home and at work.
  • Approaching retirement and feeling anxious about the next chapter. You want to set yourself up for a fun, fulfilling and financially secure future.

If that’s the case, I can help you:

  • Get clear about what direction you want to take your career in and what you need to do to move forward.
  • Grow in confidence and self-esteem and overcome your imposter syndrome.
  • Get to know, own, and showcase your value.
  • Recover your ‘mojo’.
  • Understand your priorities and values.
  • Set and sustain boundaries.
  • Improve your time and energy management.
  • Practice self-care.
  • Find and sustain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Improve your wellbeing.
  • Improve your relationships.
  • Communicate more effectively.
  • Become more emotionally resilient.
  • Overcome unhelpful habits and behaviours like perfectionism, people pleasing and procrastination.
  • Manage your mindset.
  • Make empowered decisions.
  • Develop plans and strategies for success, that work for you and your lifestyle.
  • Manage key transitions in your career and life.
  • Enjoy what you do and feel happier, healthier and more fulfilled.

If you're reading this thinking, "yes, that's me, that's what I need", then don't hesitate to send me an email and we can fix up a free, no obligation, 30 minute consultation to explore the possibility of working together.

If you still need some convincing, these are just some of the benefits my clients have experienced from our work together, and it is reflected in their testimonials. For example:

I draw on my personal and professional experience in my coaching and I find this enables me to build a strong rapport with my clients and ask the powerful questions that challenge their perception of themselves and their situation. My clients appreciate that:

  • I’ve had my own successful corporate career working as an Employment Lawyer for a British multi-national law firm, followed by a British multi-national FTSE 100 retailer.
  • I understand the pressures, demands and politics of professional life.
  • I’m familiar with the discomfort of working in a role, and in a way, that doesn’t feel true to you.
  • I’ve struggled to manage my career in harmony with other areas of my life, especially a long fertility journey.
  • I’ve successfully recovered from burnout and continue to invest in my self-care.
  • I’ve made several successful career transitions – from Employment Lawyer to Coach, employee to business owner, full-time worker to part-time worker and mother.
  • I’m committed to my ongoing personal and professional development.
  • What career issues I haven’t experienced personally, I’ve probably encountered professionally, over 13 years of providing employment law advice on issues such as attendance, ill health, performance, flexible working, discrimination, reorganisations, redundancies, executive hires and terminations.
  • I’ve worked comfortably and effectively with individuals in a variety of roles, at all levels of business, across various industries.

I apply high standards of training, qualification, performance and ethics to my business. I’m professional, but warm. My clients frequently tell me they feel comfortable talking to me and that I have a calm, considered, empathetic and thought-provoking style. They also appreciate my thorough and structured approach, and my overall commitment to their success. Again, this is reflected in testimonials such as these:

  • “Emma's style is really calm and kind”.
  • “She is supportive and considerate but also challenges you to make you think about what you want”.
  • “Emma provided a calm, safe and trusting environment which allowed for ease of dialogue and confidentiality”.
  • “She was patient throughout, demonstrated excellent recall in terms of my previous statements, and at all times I felt that she was “on my side” in helping me progress”.
  • “Emma has a calm and engaging personality”.
  • “She is easy to get along with and showed great interest”.
  • “Her style is sensitive, warm, considered and thought-provoking”.
  • “She is a great listener with a keen intellect who observes, comments and challenges your thinking and work at the right times in the right way”.
  • “She is patient, kind and thoughtful, and has a real gift for helping you feel seen and heard, while gently guiding you toward new perspectives and possibilities”.
  • "Emma combines warmth, insight and challenge in a way that leads to real, lasting change".

If it sounds like I would be a good fit for you, then please send me an email and we can fix up a free, no obligation, 30 minute consultation to explore the possibility of working together.

I know it can feel daunting to invest valuable time and money in your own development, but I believe it is an investment worth making, and so do my clients. Here are a few final words from them about their coaching experiences:

Fertility Coaching | Fertility at Work Coaching

I had an 11-year journey of unexplained infertility, recurrent IVF failure and recurrent miscarriage before realising my dream of becoming a mum. My fertility struggles had a significant impact on all areas of my life, including my career.

I draw on this personal experience, as well as my professional experience as an Employment Lawyer, and my skills as a Coach, to help others struggling as I did.

I’ve become particularly specialist in, and passionate about, the impact of fertility challenges on careers, and I’ve coached clients, supported employers, and spoken widely, on this topic.

If you’re experiencing fertility challenges then, like I did, and many of my clients do, you might be:

  • Struggling with the mental and emotional load of your journey and feeling increasingly hopeless, helpless and low.
  • Withdrawing from family, friends and colleagues and feeling increasingly isolated and lonely.
  • So focussed on having a baby, and consumed by fertility timetables and to dos, that other aspects of your life are feeling stuck and on hold.
  • Losing confidence and motivation and your sense of self.
  • Finding it difficult to manage your emotions at home and at work, especially when faced with pregnancy announcements and births.
  • Unsure whether to push forward, coast along, or step back in your career while you work towards having your family.
  • Struggling to manage the practical and emotional juggle of fertility treatments alongside your work responsibilities.
  • Anxious about telling your manager about your situation and asking for help.

If that’s the case, I can help you in all the ways I’ve listed in the Career Coaching paragraph of the "About" section above and I can also help you:

  • Recover your sense of self.
  • Find and sustain a healthy fertility-work-life balance.
  • Navigate the trials and tribulations of your fertility journey with more ease and grace.
  • Live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life on your path towards parenthood.

My clients value the experience I bring to this work and the results they achieve. They’ve said:

  • “The fact Emma was able to empathise and understand the fertility journey we have been on, was a real game changer, because it is so hard to articulate what the experience does to you and knowing Emma just got it helped us hit the ground running during our sessions”.
  • “I contacted Emma seeking support to navigate the trials of fertility treatments alongside a busy and demanding career. Her experience has been invaluable in building up my toolbox to deal with both, and the results have left me feeling resilient and in control both at work and in my personal fertility journey. I am so pleased that I prioritised coaching with Emma as an investment in myself”.
  • “Emma helped me explore how I might move forward, and with her guidance, I began making small, manageable changes—each one building on the last. Those shifts added up to something much bigger: I started to feel lighter, more present, and more hopeful”.
  • “While I’m still on my fertility journey, I now move through it with a deeper sense of resilience. Through coaching, Emma has taught me that I can weather the hard days without losing myself—and how to be kinder to myself in the process”.
  • “I’d tried counselling before, but coaching was different because I wasn’t just naming feelings and receiving validation or sympathy. I was being empowered to change how I experience my life, even when I can’t control the circumstances around me”.
  • "Initially, I had some reservations about coaching. I worried it might feel uncomfortable or exposing. While it was challenging at times, it was always kind, respectful and empowering. I never felt judged or unsafe and instead felt guided through my own process of self-discovery."

Infertility and baby loss can make you feel very lonely, but you don't need to manage alone.
