How to be a high quality woman
In the last few months, I became a workaholic. I realised that I hardly ever went out with my friends anymore. Most of the time I stayed at home in my tracksuit or other not so sexy outfits; I wasn’t wearing make-up, and I spent less and less time pampering myself. I generally felt that I had lost contact with my feminine side.
If you had asked anyone around me during this period, they would probably have disagreed with me. I still made an effort to look nice whenever I went out or met with my coaching clients. But deep down, I knew I wasn't paying as much attention to being that beautiful, confident, high-quality woman I wanted to be, not for anyone else, but for myself. That realisation was difficult to accept. How did I get there?
I spent the next few days talking to friends, asking for their opinions, researching the topic online, and reading several books from the library. What I discovered was that I wasn't alone.
Many of us work ourselves half to death climbing the career ladder, but without realising it, we slowly neglect the very core of ourselves in the process. Over the years, women have embraced opportunities that previous generations could only dream of. We've become educated, financially independent, ambitious, and successful. That is something to celebrate.
However, I also believe that, in the process of trying to prove ourselves in every area of life, many of us have become disconnected from qualities that once came naturally to us. I know I did, and many women I spoke to admitted they felt exactly the same.
We wanted to believe that if we worked hard enough, we really could have it all. We learned to be independent and resilient, but somewhere along the way, many of us also developed habits of always being in control, constantly pushing ourselves, and rarely allowing ourselves to simply receive, rest, or be vulnerable. It's no surprise that so many women feel exhausted, overwhelmed, lonely, or emotionally disconnected.
At the same time, I've met women from different cultures who seem to have found a healthier balance. They are confident and independent, yet they also embrace their femininity. They know how to nurture themselves, communicate with kindness, and create harmonious relationships without sacrificing who they are.
I believe we all want to feel beautiful, loved, desired, appreciated, and emotionally safe. At our core, we long for genuine connection, yet we often hide behind a tough exterior because vulnerability feels risky. Strength and femininity are not opposites; they can coexist beautifully. Reconnecting with our feminine side simply means allowing ourselves to soften without becoming weak.
So how do we begin?
The first step is surprisingly simple: look after yourself.
Wear clothes that flatter your body shape and make you feel beautiful. Don't save your favourite dresses for special occasions; wear them today.
If you enjoy make-up, wear it. It can enhance your natural features and help you feel more confident.
Accessories such as a beautiful scarf, elegant earrings, a delicate necklace, or a stylish handbag can add a lovely finishing touch.
Our bodies deserve care and appreciation. Nourish yourself with healthy food, get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and make time for rest. Take a long bath, apply your favourite body cream, and wear a perfume that makes you smile. These small rituals aren't about impressing anyone else; they're about honouring yourself. Looking after your appearance can become a beautiful expression of self-respect and self-love.
Looking feminine is only one part of the picture. Equally important is how we carry ourselves.
Be kind, compassionate, confident, and polite. Speak with warmth. Walk with confidence and grace. Treat people with respect, while maintaining healthy boundaries and respecting yourself.
Create an environment that nurtures you. Fill your home with fresh flowers or candles. Visit a spa now and then. Buy yourself a thoughtful gift simply because you deserve it. Take yourself on a date. Stand in front of the mirror and practise positive affirmations. Book a professional photoshoot that reminds you how beautiful you truly are.
These simple rituals reconnect us with ourselves.
I know life is busy. Many of us juggle careers, businesses, relationships, families, and endless responsibilities. That's exactly why reconnecting with our feminine side isn't a luxury; it's a necessity.
You might be thinking that it's easier said than done. You're right.
I'm my father's daughter and always will be. From an early age, I learned that financial security matters. I studied hard and worked hard to build the life I have today. But pursuing success doesn't mean I have to forget who I truly am. I can thrive professionally while still embracing my femininity.
And if you're a full-time mother, this applies to you too. Try to set aside a little time each day that belongs only to you. Pamper yourself. Recharge. Reconnect with the woman inside you, not just the mother, wife, employee, or business owner. When you feel good within yourself, that confidence naturally shines through.
I believe there are countless women who feel lost in today's world. We wear so many hats that we're professionals, entrepreneurs, partners, mothers, daughters, friends, caregivers, and leaders. It's no wonder that maintaining balance can sometimes feel impossible.
The good news is that reconnecting with your feminine side doesn't require changing who you are. It simply means remembering the parts of yourself that may have been buried beneath years of responsibilities and expectations.
Success and femininity are not mutually exclusive. You can be ambitious and gentle. Strong and soft. Independent and deeply connected to your heart.
Remember: femininity will always be in fashion.
