5 Basic Steps to Grow Your Business
You have set up your business and run it. You are 1 out of 4.5 million small businesses in the UK. Is your business growing? Are you getting enough customers? Are you marketing your products effectively? And finally, what would you say if I would offer you “No Cost Advertising Strategy” to grow your business?
When coaching newly established small businesses, regardless of their size and specialisation, the most common problems coming up are; lack of strategically set up plans, marketing effectiveness, and finding and keeping customers.
My journey to my business started after my graduation almost 20 years ago. I have learnt the process, I took strategic actions and I grew. Today, I know that my future is in my hands! I want to share with you, right now, the basic steps which will allow you to grow your business effectively.
Step 1 - Reach the Entire Audience
Your first step in the process is to go and show your business and your products to the entire audience. Statistics show that 90% of the entire audience is not interested in your product, 7% are open to it and only 3% are buying. Are they buying from you? If you struggle to move beyond the entire audience you are capped. Re-examine your communication and marketing skills. Answer the questions: ‘Why should people buy from you?’ Is your message being heard? Are you using the most suitable marketing tools for your business? If not, change something and see what happens. Bear in mind that online advertising is a growing medium. Recent surveys show that the most effective inexpensive way to advertise small businesses is via search engine and social networking ads on Google and Facebook.
Step2 - Attract Interest
You have to catch the attention of your potential buyer. Simply saying, YOU WANT somebody to click on your advert. How to do it? The clue lies in data. Internet marketing is data driven. For example, images are responsible roughly for 70% of clicks. Over 75% of these clicks are on pictures showing woman’s cleavage. Does this mean you should add pictures of big breasted women to your page? No. However it’s your decision! Attract your audience with what you do and what you sell, but bear in mind that this process is not about you, it’s about data! Carry out your research, add interest to your pages, use the right images that stand out and attract potential customers to click on your advert.
Step 3 - Gain Customers
You have gained somebody’s interest. What do you do now? You can send your potential buyer to your Facebook page. It’s great, but is he buying from you? Do something more! Create a video and post it on YouTube, it’s free! People prefer clicking on videos than text and over 800 million users visit YouTube every month. Videos in search-results gain 41% more clicks than plain text. More importantly, a page with a video is 53 times more likely to achieve a page one listing on Google. Send your potential buyer to your video page and teach them something else about you and your product. Offering good free education to the buyer will automatically reposition you as an expert and will gain the buyer’s interest. Then from your video page send your potential buyer to another link, which sends them to your selling page and start earning more money.
Step 4 - Implement Optimisation Tools
Learn how to use optimisation tools. Reports created by these tools are rich in data. You can learn how many people reached your site, your Facebook page, how many people opened your e-mail and how many clicked on the links inside, how many people watched your video and for how long, and much more. Collect this data and analyse why one e-mail or video attracted more people than the other, what have you changed? If nothing is happening there, think why, change something and then see what happens. Learn your customers’ needs and choose marketing tools which work for you. Grow your business!
