AI or divine inspiration?

It is undeniable that AI is having an impact on our everyday lives, but how can we ensure that we are not selling out to the quick fix it offers?

As we all fall into the creative relationships offered by the likes of ChatGPT, are we in danger of becoming detached from the source of our unique creative abilities?

I know that I can ask Chat GPT to work up an idea I have, but where does that idea come from in the first place?

As a coach working with clients in the creative industries, I've learned how inspiration comes at times when we can be thinking about something else. How does that happen?  Surely we have to be thinking to be creative?

That's not necessarily so; inspiration often occurs naturally as though from something outside of us, but that's not the way it works!

Inspiration or insights come from inside our minds. It might seem that it's coming in through our eyes or ears, by something we see or hear from outside, but we become conscious or aware of the thought on the inside.

An external trigger only serves as a prompter for us to "go inside" and think about what to do next.

This is a natural process true for all humans – you are not excluded from this wonderful and natural process.

So I've come up with an acronym for the human experience of inspiration from the source of all intelligence – the Divine or Universal mind that actually creates and sustains our everyday experience.

So here it is:

CARD: Creativity from the inside out

A non-AI, supernatural creative process you can use anytime. This is what CARD stands for:

C – Connect with Divine Intelligence (like going online, not stuck on your local hard drive).
A – Align with the infinite inspiration of the Divine Mind.
R – Receive your creative blueprint (a.k.a. insight).
D – Design and bring it to the world.

So, a little more about this process:

C stands for connecting with the Divine or Universal intelligence, which is operating in our mind 24/7, feeding us with thoughts like ticker tape running across the screen on a news broadcast on TV. There is information or data in this stream of thought, but it gets filtered through our personal thinking preferences, which can contaminate the original thought. The first thought is inspired, but then we often hear a second thought, such as "That'll never work". So that's our conditioned negative thinking, so we need to go deeper inside, back to before that second thought, back to the origin – that's A for align!

Once we've aligned with the original, uncontaminated thought, we can receive more information. Maybe it's an idea for a product that we think there might be a need for. By aligning with the source of the inspiration, we will receive pure information about the idea, and a practical method will begin to emerge.

Our job in this co-creative life is to bring the thought-based inspiration into reality, and that's where we come to D for design. Maybe now we can use AI to help us, but we can be confident that the original idea came from the creator of the human experience.
