NLP for a quick fix that lasts
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is the study of the human mind and language and how it works together with your mind, body and soul. Our unconscious mind has a huge influence on our feelings and behaviours, on our self-belief and self-talk. NLP processes and techniques can help to create changes that last but are not long and arduous.
Neuro relates to our mind's neurons and creating new pathways to better answers. Linguistic refers to the words we use, the self-talk, the tone and pitch etc that is highly influential on who we are and think we are (not). Programming refers to how these unconscious 'thoughts' create the feelings we have (note, not emotions which result from the feelings) and they in turn influence how we behave i.e. attitude, actions, fears, motivation and so on.
I have experienced these 'quick fixes' that last me years on. They do work and work well. It is relatively new to the UK but gained more credence and popularity, especially in business training and development, and is now mainstream for many people.
Coaching uses NLP naturally, and I have used this for many years with effective results. Before I went travelling especially - because I was ready and able to take the opportunity when it arose, which is the aim of setting goals and a step by manageable step action plan to get you where you want to go. It is about your awareness of what you want and what you need to get there so you're ready to move when the time is right.
Setting goals is one thing, creating an effective action plan another, but then you need motivation to keep going and finding those motivators is important; there is also inspiration that helps you find new ideas, and new perspectives that keep the goals fresh and alive - and developing.
