Djembe drumming - healing power
Yvonne's series of experiential workshops are designed to inspire. They include a carefully selected range of activities for people with a desire to learn, grow and experience new things. Perfect for those that would like to enrich their lives, boost their confidence and enhance their wellbeing.
In this powerful workshop, Yvonne and Richard Latham (professional percussionist and founder of Rich Rhythms) come together to lead the group in a session which will explore the positive benefits of djembe drumming. Known to relieve stress, this style of African drumming is fun, uplifting and good for mind, body and soul.
As well as its healing properties and musical attributes, drumming is used as a self-developmental tool and is great for team-building and communication. Drumming can be relaxing as well as energising. It quiets mental chatter and can create a peaceful meditative state.
We'll be looking at the healing power of the drum. Drumming offers a great workout for the brain and heart - it can induce relaxation, release negative feelings, boost the immune system, tap into creativity and help people to connect with themselves and each other. You'll get to experience and explore some different rhythms. Drumming can put you back in touch with your own natural rhythm, the rhythms of the earth and the people you drum with. You'll get to experience drumming in the dark as well as drumming to your heartbeat.
