Why accountability can help you find work you love
A stands for accountability.
If you're serious about finding work you love, accountability can make all the difference.
Now, I don't know where you are on your career journey. Maybe progress is going quite slowly, or perhaps you've been talking a lot about what you'd like to do but haven't actually got round to doing it yet.
If that's you, chances are you haven't made yourself accountable to somebody else.
Somebody once said that isolation is a dream killer. Yes, it's great to read books, listen to podcasts and do research online about what you'd like to do and get ideas, but you also need somebody you can bounce your ideas off, share your action plans with and who isn't afraid to give you that kick up the backside if necessary.
If you haven't got that somebody, then chances are, at best, your progress will be slow or, at worst, you won't actually do anything at all.
Many successful people make themselves accountable to somebody else, whether that's a fitness coach at the gym, a mentor at work or a group of people with a shared goal.
So make it your goal to find at least one person you can be accountable to. Somebody you can trust, who is willing to support you and isn't afraid to give you a few home truths if necessary.
It doesn't have to be a professional or an expert. It could be a friend, colleague or someone who simply believes in what you're trying to achieve.
So if you're serious about finding work you love, make yourself accountable.
