About me

Background and specialisms

I have been offering executive coaching for 15+ years, initially in the public sector and more recently across a range of industry sectors.

My specialisms are:

  • Women and leadership
  • Leadership style and personal effectiveness
  • Strategic and political awareness
  • Resilience, stress management and work-life balance
  • Career development

My approach

My approach is person-centred and facilitative I help individuals to explore where they want to be and how to get there by recognising their strengths, the choices available to them and the things that get in the way.

Clients describe me as friendly and easy to work with; outcome-focused and action-oriented; positive and gently challenging.

“Having worked with Mary for almost 18 months, I have benefited hugely from her considered and constructive approach. Mary works with me through complex issues I encounter in my role - actively challenging my thinking, focusing on clarifying my plans and navigating complicated situations.

Personally, Mary has supported my development and transition into new roles, helping me clarify personal aims and objectives as well as making me reflect on strengths and opportunities rather than my default focus on my weaknesses! I look forward to my sessions with Mary and always find myself taking positive actions based on our conversations.”

2018, Lorna Thomson, Director, Research Support Office, University of Edinburgh
