About me

I am Cath Brown. I bring a fresh approach to coaching and training by combining nearly two decades of working with companies and individuals, initially as a practising barrister and, for the last 8 years, as a coach and facilitator.

I am a career, leadership and communication coach, trainer and former practising barrister specialising in helping professionals achieve their full potential. Together, we work out what is standing in your way and how to overcome your specific obstacles.

Through my business, Skilful Conversation, I work with lawyers, leaders, business owners and professionals who want to communicate more effectively, strengthen working relationships and navigate the modern workplace with ease.

My coaching philosophy is informed by my belief in the power and responsibility of the individual to bring about change in their professional and personal lives.

I believe that coaching at its best is coaching at its simplest – a skilful, directed blend of conversation and silence.

The skill comes in the coach’s ability to listen, to form and put appropriate questions in a supportive but challenging environment, to listen to the answers and to provide feedback.

Against that background, I employ a collaborative and conversational style which allows my clients to stop and think and gives them the time and space in which they can express themselves, explore new ideas and develop their own solutions.

I always offer a free introductory call and am happy to tailor a package for your specific needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Professional Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring from the OCM (Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring), obtained in 2018.

I am an Associate Member of the EMCC.

I have been running my own coaching and training business since 2018, on top of 15 years' experience as a qualified Barrister.

I have worked with professionals from multiple industries including law, health, medicine, HR, PR, manufacturing, accountancy.
