Stress & Nervous System Regulation Specialist | BWRT & NLP

About me

Some days you are fine. Then something small goes wrong and your chest goes tight, your jaw locks, and you are either close to tears or close to snapping at someone who did not deserve it. You wake at 3am with your heart going. You are still delivering, still turning up, still holding it together in front of people. It just costs more than it used to.

That is not a character flaw and it is not something you can think your way out of. It is a nervous system that has been on high alert long enough that it has forgotten how to stand down.

I am a stress and nervous system regulation specialist. I work with the body first, because when your arousal is high there is very little thinking capacity left. That is why advice, mindset work and "just breathe" so often fail people who have already tried them - they are aimed at a part of your brain that is offline at the moment you need it.

Most stress responses have three layers: the physical alarm going off in your body, the learned trigger that sets it off, and the story you have built about what it all means. I work through them in that order, because the top two are genuinely unreachable until the bottom one settles. Once it does, the rest moves quickly.

I use BWRT and NLP alongside affective neuroscience. In practice that means sessions are practical and quite fast. You leave the first one with something that works in your body, not homework.

I work with:

Burnout and career burnout, including returning to work after it.

Anxiety that shows up physically before it shows up in your head.

Anger you are ashamed of, or anger you have swallowed for years.

Perimenopause, when your usual coping stopped working and nobody warned you.

Divorce and separation.

Grief and loss, including the kind that has no clean ending.

Before this I spent over 20 years in technology and co-founded two security companies. Security and regulation turn out to be the same instinct: keeping a system calm and stable under pressure, whether that system is silicon or somatic.

I am not a therapist and I do not diagnose. If what you need is clinical treatment I will tell you plainly and help you find it. For perimenopause I will always point you to your GP for anything medical.

Training, qualifications & experience

BWRT Practitioner (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy) - a fast, content-light method for resolving conditioned stress and fear responses at the level where they actually fire.

NLP Practitioner - trained under John Grinder, co-creator of NLP, at the NLP Academy.

Change Management Practitioner and PRINCE2 Practitioner - two decades of leading change in organisations, which is where I learned that people do not resist change, they resist unmanaged threat.

Level 3 Personal Trainer.

My framework draws on Jaak Panksepp's affective neuroscience, which maps the distinct emotional systems in the mammalian brain. Fear, anger and grief are not one undifferentiated blob called "stress" - they run on different circuits, they need different things, and treating them the same is why so much generic stress advice does not land.

Over 20 years in technology before coaching, including co-founding two security and authentication companies.

Fees

£75.00 - £120.00
Free initial telephone or online session

Additional information

Free 25 minute introductory call
No charge and no obligation. Tell me what is going on and I will tell you how I would approach it.

£75 - 25 minute rapid change session
For when you want change in minimal time.

£120 - 50 minute session
The usual session length, with more room to explore.

Both sessions cover the same ground: what you want, where you are now, why you believe you cannot get there, what you can do about it, and what it will look and feel like when you have it.

The difference is depth, not content. If you already believe change is possible and you want to get straight on with it, 25 minutes is enough. If that belief feels shakier, or you want more room to talk something through, choose the 50.

If you are not sure which, say so on the free call and I will tell you which one I think you need.
