About me
I coach a wide range of clients from the professional / corporate sectors to individuals who simply want to enhance an aspect of themselves or their lives.
Alongside my coaching practice, I work in people and project management for a global Information Technology services company where I've held many and varied roles over the past couple of decades.
As well as individual / business clients, I'm expanding my coaching practice to include a particular interest in coaching people at any stage of the process of adopting children – from the point of considering adoption to the experience of being an adoptive parent.
You can find more information about me and my coaching approach via this link to the Affinity Centre website.

My background with coaching to date has been primarily within the corporate environment in the UK and Canada. Although most clients have come from the business setting, the areas clients have wanted coaching on have varied widely from very specific work related topics to purely personal matters.

Coaching around the process of adoption
As well providing general transformation coaching, I have developed my coaching practice more recently to include coaching around adoption. Probably my most significant life experience has been the process of adopting and parenting my two children. Family has become central to me, and I’ve been grateful for the support of a coach as I’ve dealt with the challenges of adapting my working life to become a very involved and hands on parent.

Gavin is a fantastic coach. His "contracting" at the beginning laid the foundation for our relationship over the last 2 years; one in which he blends great encouragement and empathy with hard hitting and bold challenge at times. It's simple - I would not have the challenging job I have now, and that I love, were it not for Gavin. He has got me to take risks that have grown me more in the last 2 years than in the preceding 20. He has helped me to commit to my own development and move into uncomfortable spaces. The result has been that I have grown my skill, my profile and my self-belief in ways I never would have without him. I will always be in his debt.

My coaching sessions with Gavin and his in depth questioning techniques helped me identify what was really important to me professionally, including how I factor in work/life balance. During those sessions Gavin also helped me to find the confidence and assertiveness to go for what was important to me............and I succeeded. My thanks to Gavin and his coaching skills.

Being coached by yourself was a new experience for me and made me open my mind to 'self learning'. I hadn't previously appreciated the difference between mentoring and coaching, and of course, now I do. What was very important is that a trusting relationship is built between the two parties which I valued and would wish to continue. The knowledge I have gained has helped me in my work as well as personal life which is more than I had expected. Gavin has a very disciplined approach, manages the interface time well and follow-up. He has whet my appetite to learning more about coaching in general. Thank you for the experience!

Gavin delivers his coaching with humour and honesty and he demonstrates a degree of personal investment in his coachee's success. It's great to have an objective inquirer into the barriers that I put between myself and my life goals - as well as an enthusiastic supporter when I allow myself to make progress with them. A significant learning point has been that I can just be myself in those critical meetings that will enable me to achieve my goals.

Being coached by yourself has been excellent for me. It has helped me focus on the areas I want to change in my life and make the changes whilst also filtering out elements that aren't so important, which may have previously been a concern to me and perceived by myself as more important than they actually were. Your coaching has helped me in all aspects of my life and work and encouraged me to make the changes that I wouldn't have made or believed possible to make without the coaching. I think your style in coaching is very good, allowing me to work out by myself how to make changes but also highlighting points I have discussed that I would not pick up on myself. I think everyone would benefit from a 'Gavin'
