This workshop explores how to intervene firmly to prevent harm without shaming, blaming or escalating conflict.

Do you struggle to set boundaries firmly without losing your temper, shaming or escalating?

When behaviour crosses a line – do you react too harshly and regret it? Or do you say nothing and let it continue?

Many people believe that being nonviolent means being passive, permissive or endlessly patient.

It doesn't.

There is a fundamental difference between punitive force – used to blame, shame or control – and protective force, used to prevent harm and safeguard needs.

Punitive force damages. It escalates. It breaks trust and connection.

Protective force is firm. Clear. Grounded. It stops harmful behaviour without creating more damage.

Most people have only ever been shown one. And it has cost them – in their parenting, their leadership, their relationships and every moment where they needed to act decisively but didn't know how to do it without making things worse.

This workshop teaches you the difference – and how to use protective force with strength, clarity and compassion.

What this workshop is

This is a live, guided 2-hour NVC practice session focused entirely on one of the most misunderstood concepts in nonviolent communication – the protective use of force.

You will learn how to set boundaries firmly when behaviour crosses a line. How to intervene without aggression or moral judgement. How to take decisive action without escalating conflict. And how to apply these principles in parenting, leadership, relationships and any high-pressure environment where you need to act without making things worse.

Firm. Clear. Grounded. Power without punishment.

What you'll leave with

  • a clear understanding of the difference between punitive and protective force – and why it changes everything;
  • the ability to intervene firmly when behaviour crosses a line – without escalating or shaming;
  • tools to set boundaries with strength and clarity – without aggression or moral judgement;
  • the confidence to take decisive action in high-pressure moments – without damaging the relationship;
  • how to apply these principles in parenting, leadership, relationships and professional environments;
  • the ability to be firm and grounded – without resorting to punishment or shame.

Who this is for

Anyone who recognises this in themselves:

  • you react too harshly when behaviour crosses a line — and regret it afterwards;
  • you say nothing and let behaviour slide — and it continues;
  • you are a parent who struggles to set boundaries without losing connection or control;
  • you are a leader or manager who needs to address behaviour firmly without damaging your team;
  • you are a professional – counsellor, coach, HR – who works in high-pressure environments;
  • you want to act with strength and clarity in difficult moments – without compromising dignity or connection.

Couples are welcome. Colleagues are welcome. You can come alone and leave changed.
