National Family Week
National Family Week is an annual event which aims to reconnect and bring together UK families. This year the event is running from the 30th May to the 5th of June and has gained the support of various household names including the Prime Minister David Cameron.
The idea of National Family Week is to provide an opportunity for various brands and not for profit organisations, to showcase the work they do and demonstrate how it can complement family life.
2010's national family week saw over 5,000 events take place throughout the UK, with 500,000 people taking part. This year National Family Week is hoping to be equally as successful and have got a great website up and running featuring details of events in your area, money saving offers, vouchers for days out and some great competitions.
The campaign has also managed to drum up a series of celebrity supporters, including the likes of David Cameron, Julie Walters, Amanda Holden, Ed Milliband, Terry Wogan, Nick Clegg and Richard and Judy.
Here is what the king and queen of daytime TV had to say:
As proud parents to four wonderful children, we know how important family is in all its forms. With busy schedules, it can be difficult to find enough quality time to spend together, but it is this time that is the most precious and rewarding to us. We feel lucky to have met so many extraordinary people through our work and have learned that every family is unique and inspirational in its own way. We look forward to National Family Week and joining families of all shapes and sizes in celebrating the treasured institution that is The Family.
