Margaret Walsh FCIPD MNLP, Executive Coach & Coach Supervisor
Supervision - the benefits:
I am a strong advocate for supervision of coaches as part of a coach's professional development and also to ensure high standards of ethical practice. As a supervisor, I work with my supervisees to enhance their professional skills and knowledge through support, stimulating creativity and giving space to think and reflect. My experience is that with effective supervision there is often greater self-awareness on the part of the coach and this, in turn, promotes better resilience and sustainability.
How I supervise:
Within supervision, I work to build a climate so that there is mutual trust so that effective learning can take place. I work with a number of supervision frameworks like 7-eyed model for supervision (Hawkins & Shohet), although in an intuitive way. My aim as a supervisor is to develop my supervisees further as coaches so that they get even better results in their coaching work.
