How a cup of tea can help you get what you want from life
We Brits love our tea. We drink it all day long and it defines our national identity (along with fish and chips and roast beef!).
It becomes part of our routine. We get up in the morning, still half asleep and the first thing we do is put the kettle on. We cut ourselves a piece of cake, or reach for the biscuit tin, and it's an automatic reaction to make a cup of tea.
You're probably thinking you could do with a cuppa right now, aren't you?!
But a lot of the time, we take it for granted. Although it's part of our routine, sitting with that cup of tea also gives us a chance to break from what we're doing. We can focus on something else for a few moments while we enjoy it.
For those of us who don't smoke, this short break can give us some valuable thinking time.
So, next time you're sitting down with your brew, enjoy it. Drink in the aroma and warmth it offers you. But also take your mind away from the busy state it was in and use that time you're giving yourself to focus on what you want to achieve.
It might be a big thing - like changing career. Or it might be something much smaller - like reminding yourself to buy a pint of milk on the way home. When you've finished your tea, you can jot down any inspiration or action you want to take away with you.
Time is precious and we only have so much of it.
I still want you to enjoy your cuppa and the time the two of you have together. But it can also be a chance for you to clarify your thoughts and focus on what you want the tea to help you achieve!
Right, I'm off to put the kettle on...
