Feel overwhelmed - 3 steps to take back control

Overwhelmed, too much to do, find yourself saying I'm so exhausted, feeling like you are been knocked by the waves of demands all the time. When we are so busy running from one thing to another, trying to achieve the best in all roles it takes its toll, usually on ourselves.

Three tips to help you with this:

1) You may have a to do list, but now create a done list. Write down three things that went well each day. Start with thinking of something that you have accomplished today, no matter how big or small that you are pleased with. This helps you to recognise what you are achieving.

2) Think about what energises you... it could be exercise, if so what kind of exercise - is it gym, dance class, playing football, a round of golf, or is it baking cakes, gardening... whatever energises you make a regular appointment in your diary to do this. If you think you have not got the time start small but make a commitment to yourself and keep it.

3) Ask for assistance, think of the most suitable person to ask for help, expertise or to do something for you. Mostly people like to help when they can.

If you decide to try one of the above tips you may feel self-conscious at first, perhaps even guilty. But by changing an action, you can change the result and in this case move away from that feeling of overwhelm. Our mind is used to the old ways and habits we have adopted and may throw up also sorts of excuses why you should not chose a different approach from rushing everywhere. If that happens just say STOP, I am in control and have made a choice... I am spending the time to...

You will be surprised at your minds response.
