3 steps for keeping your New Year’s resolutions

Written by listed life coach: Sharon Oakley - Nexus Coaching

Sharon Oakley - Nexus Coaching

We’ve all been there. As the year comes to a close, we are filled with emotion for what could have been and ambition for what could be. We then start to reflect on all the things we would like to change in the coming year. And as the count down to the new year begins so begins the count of all the goals for the year ahead.

This is the year I am going to lose the weight. This is the year I am finding a job I love. This is the year I am going to find him (or her).

And so it goes....

Six ways to get out of that rut

Written by listed life coach: Tracey Hutchinson, MSc, NLP Master Practitioner, Cert Management

Tracey Hutchinson, MSc, NLP Master Practitioner, Cert Management

We’ve all been there. Stuck in a rut. Same old routine. Day in day out. Now, whilst some routine is always present, indeed probably welcomed, when your whole life becomes the same, you’ll probably end up feeling quite down and demotivated. It happens to everyone and can happen for many reasons although fear and limiting beliefs are often implicated. Managing limiting beliefs is the subject of another article I’ve written that you’ll find on the Life Coach Directory....

How working with a coach is different than trying to apply self-help advice

Written by listed life coach: Florentina Caras- Personal Development Coach

Florentina Caras- Personal Development Coach

I wanted to dive into this topic as it is quite common for people to try to apply self-help advise from books or online without success before deciding to reach out and work with a coach to overcome their challenges. Most people are extremely overwhelmed by the amount of self-help advise they are consuming from internet, books or workshops. Often the amount of overwhelm is greater when reading a tonne of advice than the amount of overwhelm generated by the challenge itself. This happens...

Finding focus when it doesn't find you

Written by listed life coach: Toni Horton

Toni Horton

To some people, the idea of getting some coaching seems like the thing to do when you have a specific goal you want to achieve, and you need some strategy or structure to get you there. To others, going for coaching is more about finding that goal in the first place; maybe they are feeling lost and directionless, or even lacking in inspiration. Although a lack of inspiration or a goal to strive for might sound like a bit of a ‘western problem’, it’s a different story when...

Written by listed life coach: Jenny Butter. Career, Life, Personal Development, Youth and Business Coach.

Jenny Butter. Career, Life, Personal Development, Youth and Business Coach.

How do you deal with it? Head down? Constantly moan to whoever will listen on Facebook? Begrudge anyone who sits next to you and loudly chews? Or do you do it differently? The daily commute can be draining and expensive. According to the BBC, the average UK commute is 54 minutes with Office for National Statistics figures showing 3.7 million workers travelling for two hours or longer. And it’s not just the time. According to a Total Jobs survey, the average UK employee spends £146...

Bubble baths and burnout

Written by listed life coach: Angharad Boyson - Bright Rebel Coaching

Angharad Boyson - Bright Rebel Coaching

Did you know that January 8th is National Bubble Bath Day? Now, I am one of the world’s biggest bubble bath lovers, and I’ve only just found out that this is a thing. I also only just found out the reason for a bubble bath (apparently) is not about fun bubbles and nice scents - it’s because the bubbles keep the water warmer for longer. Who knew? Seriously, who knew? Because I sure didn’t. Here I am, 40 years of age and just finding this out, and I think that’s...

What can life coaching do for me?

Written by listed life coach: Sharon Oakley - Nexus Coaching

Sharon Oakley - Nexus Coaching

I was recently out with a group of friends and acquaintances when the inevitable question of “What do you do for work?” was asked. When I responded to the group that I am a life coach, I was met with both some nods of appreciation as well as some blank stares. While most have heard of the profession, it was obvious that many still didn’t understand what life coaching is about, and who can blame them?  The term life coach is ambiguous given that life covers, well,...

5 steps to self-care

Written by listed life coach: Nikki Emerton

Nikki Emerton

It's important to show compassion and kindness for others, but how often do we treat ourselves with that same level of compassion or kindness? That inner voice will probably be the most important voice you will ever hear, and it needs to be nice! For some people, adding self-care into a daily regimen can seem inconvenient or time-consuming. You may say “I don’t have time for that”, or “I have too many other things to do”, but repeatedly putting the needs of...

The folly of New Year's resolutions

Written by listed life coach: Mark Anderson, Award Winning Career Coach

Mark Anderson, Award Winning Career Coach

At this time of year, you’ll either hear people tell you about their New Year’s resolution, or they’ll tell you that they don’t make them for fear of failure. Which camp do you fall into? Now, as a coach, you may be forgiven for expecting me to say that this is a good time to reflect on where you are in your life and to start the process of making positive change. After all, the end of a year is a natural time to reflect on where your life is at and to ponder how...
