About me

My role as your coach is to enable you to be happier in your professional or personal life.

And because you're reading this, I'll ask:  'Are you as happy as you'd like to be with your work, relationships, work-life balance?' If you're not, what has to change? And how can you make that happen?

I've coached clients in their 40s to late 60s for almost twenty years. I focus on supporting them with -

  • Careers and Work-life Balance
  • Relationships
  • Confidence, Self-esteem, Wellbeing
  • Behaviour Change

Are you ready to gain insight into what you want, develop your strengths and navigate whatever holds you back?

I'm here as a sounding board, to listen but not judge. I'll ask questions that may be challenging. And perhaps ask you to consider new ways of thinking and behaving. Coaching is about taking action as well as talking. If you're ready you will -

  • Overcome procrastination and self-doubt.
  • Build your confidence to enhance your personal development.
  • Create a timescale for your goals.
  • Identify and focus on your strengths.
  • Let go of negative, limiting thoughts and self-doubt.
  • Share your emotions and ideas without judgement.
  • See change happen within a realistic timescale.

I've coached hundreds of clients whose careers include science, the arts, finance, IT, teaching, education, art, writing, and running their own business.

I'm also experienced as a writing coach - complete beginners and professional - and creative clients like artists.

Career Coaching - if you're unhappy or unfulfilled you may be considering career change, promotion, re-training, starting a business, building your confidence, finding work, or planning your life around less work.

Work-life Balance and Wellbeing - if your work is all-consuming, with no time for your family, hobbies or looking after your health and wellbeing, let's talk about how you can initiate changes.

Relationships - if you're unhappy in a relationship, ready to make changes or want to work through your thoughts, if you're adapting to being single, or want to change your behaviour that's a negative factor in your relationships.

Coaching is a conversation. Talking to someone who's not a friend or family is enlightening and powerful.

  • All coaching in planned for you as an individual.
  • I use active listening, thought-provoking exercises and meaningful conversations, including Cognitive Behavioural Coaching.
  • Coaching is led by you and I support you without judgement.
  • I don't make choices for you.
  • I will challenge your beliefs if they hold you back.

I'm experienced in supporting professional clients with dyslexia if it's affecting their careers.  See Further Information.

I cannot thank Glynis enough for the coaching I received. The space she held for me (that felt like a total decadence at first!) quickly became a vital channel to allow and enable me to explore my next work steps in the context of the family picture. Glynis rebuilt lost confidence and focused my thinking, encouraging and supporting me to persist and believe in my abilities.
Soon after my coaching concluded, undeterred by the inevitable rejections, thanks to new found belief, I landed my ideal job, testament to this valuable personal investment. Mrs G S

I was in the creative doldrums, wanting to do more designing and making, but lacking a purpose to do so. Glynis helped me to identify what was holding me back and suggested ways to move forward. Since then, with Glynis' support, I have a renewed enthusiasm and new goals. I am looking forward to a creative future.   Mrs C A

I went to see Glynis with a specific goal in mind, without an actual idea how to get there or where to start from. From the very first session, Glynis recognised my strengths and understood where I’d need some more guidance.

I consider myself as a pretty organised, full of energy, positive person with great time keeping. I knew exactly where I wanted to go, but I didn’t know how to get there. Finally, I reached my decision to start a new life, knowing at the back of my mind that I CAN make it happen. Today, a year later, I am divorced from a very dysfunctional marriage. I am feeling happy and no longer walk on egg shells in my day-to-day life. It was very tough decision to make and without Glynis’ help it would have taken me at least another year to reach my end goal. Ms A L

Here's a bit about me.

My entire career - over 35 years- is in people-development. First as a teacher, then as a coach and mentor. I've been a coach for almost 20 years after retraining in midlife.

I chose to coach as it combines my experience in education (taking students towards their goals, planning their careers) with a broader, holistic approach to personal fulfilment. The psychology element of my training as a teacher is helpful with coaching. I've coached hundreds of clients both in the UK and overseas.

My former career was as an English teacher, including adults. I'm also trained in dyslexia and have coached clients with their personal or professional challenges.

I'm a published author of two self-help books and I've written for The Times, Telegraph, Guardian, websites and magazines, focusing on personal development, wellbeing and careers. I contributed a fortnightly career column to the i newspaper for several years.

I provide mentoring for writers at all levels who want support or professional insights into publication. Some of my clients are now published authors and writers.
