How does coaching work?
Coaching provides dedicated time and a safe space for you to talk about what is on your mind. Everything discussed during our sessions remains strictly confidential.
In a coaching session we sit down together and identify what inspires you, what gives you energy and motivation. These are the things that we want more of and we will explore how we can achieve them. We will also record the things that hold you back and think of strategies for how to avoid these situations. Ultimately, we want you to feel comfortable that you can achieve your goals. I am passionate about helping you on this journey.
The number of coaching sessions needed differs per person and you decide what your needs are. It could be just a couple of sessions, or up to several months of coaching. Again, you lead the way.
At the end of each session we set homework to do before the next session. This homework varies in time and in format. It could mean making a phone call to get some information relating to your goals or trying out a different approach to a challenging situation.
When are you ready to end our coaching sessions?
- when you are happy and clear about your way ahead;
- when you are confident about the path to achieving your goals;
- when you feel you can manage the challenges on the way;
- when you feel you are in charge of your life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 25 years of corporate experience as an HR professional in four different countries (UK, Netherlands, Taiwan, Japan). As an HR Director for a professional services firm I provided business coaching and career coaching to professionals at all levels and advised many on finding the right work-life balance. As an independent coach I have given life coaching to individuals at a point in their lives where they lost focus and needed to rethink their goals. I have worked with many men and women who wanted to overcome their anxieties and find the confidence to follow their dreams and aspirations.
Apart from my background in business I am also a mother of three teenagers. Over the years there have been occasions when I felt I had to change direction, refocus and find a new purpose. I have always found it very useful to seek the help of a professional coach to guide me towards that next step. I can recommend it!
I have a Masters in Sociology from the University of Amsterdam. I was trained by CTI (The Coaches Training Institute) in 2007 and I had regular coaching training in the international firms I worked with.
Association for Coaching
The Association for Coaching is one of the leading professional bodies for Coaches and Organisations.
The Association is made up of a number of different membership categories, e.g. Associate Member (AMAC), Member (MAC), Accredited Member (AC Accred), with the different categories standing for different levels of training and experience. Accredited Members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
The Association has a Code of Ethics & Good Practice and a Complaints Procedure.
Areas of coaching I deal with
I have been a coachee myself at several points in my life and I know that it is important that you feel a good connection with your coach. The relationship has to work. Therefore, I always start with a phone call of up to 30 minutes in which we discuss what you are looking for and how we could work together. This will be free of charge. In this call we will also discuss the different packages that I offer.
At the moment, my coaching is done by phone, WhatsApp or Zoom. After lockdown is fully lifted I will continue with online coaching but coaching sessions could take place at my home office or at a location of your choice (your office or quiet public space). Travel expenses will be charged at cost in case of meetings away from my home office.
