Life Coaches are a bit like superheroes, not so much in terms of special powers but most of us have a back story as to how we became what we are now.
Mine was a series of personal setbacks, divorce, bereavement and an accident that meant a long stay in hospital followed by a long spell of recovery.
The combination of these resulted in a deep sense of hopelessness combined with overwhelming feelings of anxiety and dread whenever I went somewhere busy and crowded. Pretty quickly my life started to shrink from the edges.
The road back involved making a handful of small but significant changes rather than a complete reorganisation of my entire life. Most of these were strategies that I used to challenge all the beliefs and ‘facts’ that were telling me I couldn’t do it.
A minute spent visualising the way I wanted a challenging element of my day to go. A few moments taken to recall a particularly good outcome. Giving myself a bit of credit for a job well done. Remembering to ask myself questions before making decisions.
I found out that changing course by as little as one degree would, over time, have a significant effect on my destinationnot least of all in having the the confidence to get back out there.
A Coach’s job is to ask you the questions that reveal those changes, but before you decide that all you need to do is contact one of the people on this site remember that in life you generally get what you expect, not what you want, or what you deserve. Please think about it for a moment. If our beliefs govern our actions they are also going to determine our outcomes, particularly where this involves making a decision about the amount of effort we're going to put in.
I’m really hoping we can talk but I don’t have special powers and I can’t get you there on my own - you'll need to believe it’s actually possible.
Our first 'recce' session is always free.

I’m also a qualified Bushcraft Instructor and believe that time spent in the natural environment can have a profound effect on us and it’s one reason I like to coach outside. I’ll bring a couple of folding chairs, we’ll find a spot with a great view (I know a some!) and we can talk.
It will never be a long walk from the car and all the sites I use are a relatively easy walk in.
Yes, I have to charge a bit extra for this type of coaching depending on where we go. Please get in touch if you’d like to know more.
If you'd like to take this a bit further and include some traditional outdoor skills or try a Wilderness Solo experience please check out my website or get in touch.
