Annie McKinnon, PGDip, MAC

About us

I grew up in Scotland in a culture that felt oppressive, especially for minority groups. Back then, I felt my life was already decided and that I had no choice but to follow traditions that had been set out by generations before me. That was, until I unlearned what I had been made to believe and found who I was at my core, my own values and what I truly believed.

I found the courage and resilience to be who I am today understanding, compassionate, resilient, courageous and brave. Belonging to and being a voice in the LGBTQ+ community, means my values drive forward important discussions in areas such as equality, inclusion and belonging as well as progression and education across society,

When I am working with people the reward, for me, comes when that moment, in a session arrives, where my clients have; what some call, “the lightbulb moment”. For me, it can be far more subtle and come across in a client smile, tone of voice or even a movement. The moment they recognise their own power, strength and energy that says, “I’ve got this, and I know what I need to do to take me where I want to be”.

Working with me, you will have a very clear understanding of who you are, what you value and believe.

Working together, you will begin to recognise what it is you really want, what’s holding you back and what you need to do to move forward, living your life in a way that makes sense to you. I have worked with clients, all over the world in areas below but not restricted to:

  • Who you are at your core, your values and beliefs
  • Balance in all areas of your life to feel much happier and fulfilled
  • Finding your purpose
  • Increasing confidence and self-esteem
  • Improving communication and decision-making
  • Supporting culture change
  • Career change
  • Developing managers to improve their leadership style

Supporting individuals to raise their performance in their existing role and also to the next level for example, if they are being promoted

I have accumulated over 20 years’ experience working with people in the addictions/mental health field. My work has been in Learning and Development, counselling individuals and couples in a therapeutic setting and of course, coaching people through their life/career goals in the private, non-profit and business sectors.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified life coach to diploma level and a member of the Association for Coaches. I am also a qualified counsellor and supervisor, gaining my PGDip Counselling & Supervision back in 2000.  In addition, I offer training programmes, speak at events and write articles.

Here is what some of my clients have said about working with me:

“I have worked with Annie over the course of several months during which time she was able to guide me towards opening up valuable new perspectives.

Throughout our sessions Annie always used great questions, and at times gentle prodding, to guide me towards meaningful insights. This enabled me to not only better identify personal and professional goals and priorities, but to set in motion plans and actions to work towards achieving those goals and to drive sustainable and continuous personal and professional development.

Annie is a sincere and authentic coach who obviously brings a lot of passion and a wealth of experience to the table, and I can highly recommend the Coaching Cart for taking you where you want to be!”

“I have never undertaken coaching before, and was unsure what to expect. However, I have found the whole experience to be a positive and life changing one. Annie enabled me to look at my life and to define what my goals were. She also gave me the encouragement and motivation to put things into practice, and to make changes now. Together we worked on the obstacles, and I realised that the greatest obstacles were within me, and could be changed.

As a result, I am now making my aspirations a reality, and although this will involve a lot of hard work, it will be worth it. If you feel stuck in an area of your life and would like to make changes but are unsure how, then coaching could be for you. Thank-you Annie for all that you have done, and for giving the push in the right direction, something I needed, even if I was unaware of this at the time”

“Working with Annie at the Coaching Cart has been a huge blessing. She is professional, knowledgeable and has helped me reflect on aspects of my life I often glance over. I came to Annie during a time when I was lacking direction. She was able to help me through a process with practical steps to help me gain clarity on the type of life I wanted to live. She challenged me to look beyond my default perception of self and I am now on a journey of addressing the self-inflicted limitations that hold me back from being the best version of myself. I can't thank Annie enough for all her help and would recommend the Coaching Cart to anybody who is looking for a genuine source of support, guidance and accountability to improve their overall being”
