About me

Hello, I’m Sue Leslie. I help people who are not happy with their life to make new choices so that their future is better than their past.

I’m a qualified life coach and teacher, and I’ve been coaching some wonderful people individually, in groups, and in workshops for ten years now. I am proud to be a member of the ICF (International Coaching Federation).

I absolutely love helping people to get past whatever is holding them back, whatever’s stopping them from living an engaged, rewarding, dignified life.

To this end, I listen to my clients’ stories with empathy and sensitivity. I engage in transformative conversations in a safe and secure setting, I suggest resource materials, and I provide written exercises – all to help you

·        see your life from a different perspective

·        understand what alternatives there are

·        cultivate new ways of being

·        and ultimately to create a future life fuelled by optimism and empowerment.

If you are ready to make positive changes in your life, please email or text me in the first instance.

I will not tell you what to do, but I will listen to your story carefully and with empathy.

I will not try to ‘fix’ you, but I will give you some ideas and tools so that you can make positive changes and decisions for yourself.

People come to me saying things like:

·        My husband passed away five years ago and I still don’t know what to do with the rest of my life.

·        I want to be more creative but I don’t feel confident enough to make a start.

·        My children have left home, the house feels empty, and I’m not sure what to do next.

·        I’m not happy in my job, but I don’t know how to find the courage to make a change.

·        We want to start a family – how can we stay positive while we’re trying to conceive?

Life coaching is a brilliant talking therapy because it can help with all of these things and lots more!

I adhere to the strict confidentiality code of my professional body (the ICF), so your information is always safe and totally private.

You can speak to me in confidence, knowing that I will provide a safe, welcoming, and sympathetic space for you.

The best way to contact me is to send me a text or WhatsApp message on 07530659316.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Professionally, I believe that it’s important to have proper life coaching training and qualifications, independently verified by an external body. I therefore have a Level 5 Diploma in Performance Coaching with Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) from Simply Changing, which was independently moderated by Pearson (EdExcel).

I am also a qualified secondary school teacher with a PGCE in Design & Technology (Food & Textiles); my undergraduate degree was in Fine Art and English Literature.

I've also done a lot of CPD training with Carolyn Spring of PODS (Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors) including trauma recovery, childhood abuse, family trauma, and self-harm/suicide. I have found that even where clients have not experienced severe abuse, trauma, or dissociation, many of the concepts, frameworks, and techniques are useful, especially as they apply to the Inner Child work that I find can be so helpful.

Speaking of Inner Child work, it's probably worth mentioning that a huge amount of benefit can be gained just from completing your childhood stages of development - and this can be a lot of fun too! It's not necessary to go back over every bad thing that happened when you were little; you can in effect 're-parent' yourself, giving that little child inside of you all the love and attention it has needed all these years. This of course can make you feel better about yourself as an adult, and thus better able to cope with life generally.

Because of my extensive background in art and craft, I like to use lots of creative activities in my life coaching - but you don't have to be an artist! Art Journaling is a favourite project - and stamping, stencilling, doodling, and collage are all easy techniques that beginners can use successfully. Creating a Journal also provides you with reference material for self-coaching after your sessions have finished.

I have been coaching for 10 years now, and I love helping people more than ever. I am a member of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists, and thus comply with their Continuing Professional Development requirements and adhere to their professional Code of Conduct which includes strict client confidentiality. I am also fully insured with Holistic Insurance.

Further information

I am coaching via Skype or WhatsApp at the moment, which saves you travel time and also means that you can speak to me from the comfort of your own familiar surroundings.

Originally from Canada, I am a total Anglophile and have lived in Britain for 30 years.  For the last 22 years I've lived in a cottage on the edge of Wytham Woods near Oxford with my partner and our son. We also have a grey tabby cat who is utterly mad and keeps us amused with her antics. I have been a vegetarian most of my life, and I love cooking food from all over the world - favourites include Italian, Mexican, Indonesian, Japanese, and Indian. I enjoy baking as well, and am quite well-known for my cakes!
