About me

Hi I'm Sue,

I'm an experienced mindfulness, wellbeing and resilience coach, living with hearing loss.

I work with clients to reduce stress and overwhelm, work towards goals based on values and things that matter, and help them to create a life they love.

When you are deaf or have hearing loss, the extra planning for events, listening fatigue, hypervigilance and social anxiety can take its toll. At the same time you're dealing with life's responsibilities and demands. If you're feeling stretched too thin and struggling to cope, it's time to make a change.

Making time for yourself is not selfish. It's by working on your wellbeing that you'll have the energy and capacity to support others and achieve your own goals.

Your level of wellbeing has a direct effect on your resilience and ability to cope with different situations. So whether you are looking to make a change at work or need support to balance your home life, it all starts with you.

What can life coaching do for you?

During a life coaching session we will discuss your situation, clarify your values and create plans and goals for your future. This could include;

  • Improving your resilience and wellbeing.
  • Making a plan for self care.
  • Managing your time.
  • Beating procrastination and getting things done.
  • Growing your confidence and self-esteem.
  • Creating a better mindset.
  • Bringing mindfulness into your daily life.

Because everyone’s situation is unique we will create an action plan for moving forward which is tailored to suit you and your needs.

All Zoom calls are captioned.

If you’d like to discuss any of the above or have any questions about how life coaching can help you, please email me.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma & Level 3 Professional Certificate in Life Coaching and have completed MBCT Teacher Training with the Oxford Mindfulness Centre.

I've studied counselling and psychology with the Open University gaining an Open Diploma in Higher Education. I've completed Resilience Practitioner Training with the College of Wellbeing.

I've completed various Acceptance And Commitment Therapy courses with Psychwire including ACT as a Brief Intervention, ACT for People Pleasing and Perfectionism and ACT for Anxiety and Depression.

I'm currently learning British Sign Language (Level 3) and plan to offer life coaching and mindfulness training via sign language in the future.

Further information

I’ve been deaf in one ear since I was little.  In 2013 I was diagnosed with a cholesteatoma (a benign tumor) in my hearing ear.  This disease if untreated can cause face paralysis, total hearing loss, meningitis or a brain abscess.

After two operations, one in 2014 and another in 2020, I'm clear of this disease. However I now have severe hearing loss, some balance problems and tinnitus.

I'm grateful for the modern technology that enables me to keep doing the work I love.  I wear hearing aids which can stream sound from my PC and phone via Bluetooth, allowing me to chat with clients online.

I have a sound support dog who alerts me to important sounds around the house, lies across my feet during Zoom calls and is very insistent that I take regular play breaks.

Feedback from clients

“I reached out to Sue when I was in a tremendously difficult place and mentally and emotionally exhausted with my relationships, my work and life in general. I felt stuck and was unable to move anything forward due to guilt, shame and a lack of self care.

In the space of time I had with Sue coaching me, she helped me to understand my own strengths, desires, weaknesses and how to convert the energy that was holding me down and pinning me to a negative outlook, into a wealth of self understanding, self care and determination to take the steps I wanted to in all aspects in my life.”

“I would 100% encourage working with Sue to help yourself in any area you’re finding it hard, as I found myself extremely receptive to her methods, and felt a great sense of reward and optimism, that this coaching gave me the tools to grow. 2019 has been one of the best years I’ve experienced so far in my life and so much of it is thanks to Sue’s Life coaching”
