How do I do it?
I am able to offer Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Coaching to you. A cutting-edge mindfulness based Coaching intervention. ACT is one of the ‘third wave’ of behavior coaching interventions it comprises a movement in psychology that regard mindfulness and acceptance as important additions to change-oriented personal development strategies.
ACT gets its name from one of its core messages: accept what is out of your personal control, and commit to action that improves and enriches your life.
The aim of ACT Coaching is to maximise human potential for a rich, full and meaningful life. ACT Coaching (which is pronounced as the word ‘act’, not as the initials) does this by:
Teaching you psychological skills to deal with your painful thoughts and feelings effectively – in such a way that they have much less impact and influence over you.
Helping you to clarify what is truly important and meaningful to you and then use that knowledge to guide, inspire and motivate you to change your life for the better.
ACT Coaching is a unique and creative approach to personal development. It is a mindfulness-based, values-oriented behavioral coaching approach. It is an approach firmly based on cutting-edge research into human behavioral psychology.
ACT Coaching uses a wide range of experiential exercises to undermine the power of destructive cognitive, emotive, and behavioral processes. In ACT, you develop your mindfulness skills helping you to fundamentally change your relationship with painful thoughts and feelings. When you practice these skills in everyday life, painful feelings and unhelpful thoughts have much less impact and influence over you. Therefore, instead of wasting your time and energy in a fruitless battle with your inner experiences, you can invest your energy in taking action to change your life for the better. It provides the calm space in which you can align your core values and get in touch with your true purpose and life direction.
David Barlow, famous not only for his work on CBT with anxiety disorders, but also for his development of the scientist-practitioner model, writes of ACT:
“Once in a while, there is a unique contribution. Even more rare is the grounding of that contribution in sound philosophy, on the one hand, and firm data on the other. ACT represents such an effort. In a truly creative leap forward, to behaviour change- the most significant new approaches to behaviour change of the past three decades.”
ACT has the largest body of empirical data to support its effectiveness and it is highly effective. The data confirms that cultivating acceptance, mindfulness, and openness to experience and being aware of what is important to you is highly effective for helping people to live a full meaningful and rich life.
To bring you a really effective scientifically proven mindfulness based coaching intervention is so important to me. i am passionate about helping people get the most from their lives which is why we are so excited to be able to bring this cutting-edge effective approach to the Coaching that I do. I am a professional member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. The governing body for ACT interventions. What clients have said about me
I worked with Sara over a number of months and throughout the process I found her to be extremely supportive and compassionate. Sara is a kind and thoughtful person and I would have no hesitation at all in recommending her to anyone.
"My journey time with Sara was profound. She was sensitive, encouraging, yet challenged me whilst supporting my exploration of new paths. Being coached by her exceeded my expectations and I would fully recommend her services.
At the beginning of my journey of discovery with Breathing Space, I struggled with anxiety and very poor confidence. I suffered panic attacks in many situations, from meeting up with friends and family to education related pressures. I have now been taught a wide range of simple tools and skills which have allowed me to discover who I am and have helped me to feel comfortable within myself. I have a complete new outlook on life, have achieved more than I ever thought I could and I am certainly more able to cope with life's struggles. I feel I have transformed from an overly emotional, dependent and nervous fraction of a person, to a more confident, healthier and happier individual, who is more aware of what she is capable of achieving.'
"Sara has helped me cope with a painful experience and built my self-awareness and confidence to face the future with new strategies and positivity. She is kind, easy to talk to, supportive and encouraging as well as being very skilled at drawing out underlying issues and challenging me. Sara is sensitive to my individual needs and preferences and flexible in her approach. Our sessions are always thought-provoking, interesting and positive and I would not hesitate to recommend Sara."
Client facing Divorce
Sara is an amazing public speaker, mentor, motivator and development coach.
I have been honoured to have used her personal development coach services on two occasions and she has never failed to impress me in two VERY different audiences.
The first time Sara spoke for me was at my Creative Networking event to around 20 businesses, she did an excellent presentation about the failure cycle and how to break out of it. It rang true with many of us and she is still one of the best speakers we have had at the networking breakfast.
The second time I used the services of Sara was for a presentation on the female side of Peterborough prison - there were around 50 female prisoners and Sara did a superb 10 minute presentation which touched many of the prisoners and myself. The presentation was so good in fact that the Prison Director took a copy of it to share with his team.
Sara is an extremely caring, approachable, kind and thoughtful coach, she really cares about the people she works with and is focused on helping other develop personally into the best they can possibly be.
Thank You Sara for two superb presentations - I will continue to recommend you highly to all I come into contact with.
