Career & Leadership Coach | DipCoach, MBA, FCIPD

About me

Hello, I’m Sally and my passion is helping people break through beliefs and behaviours that are holding them back and develop the confidence to achieve fulfilment in work.  I support people - typically 10-15 years into their professional career - who want to make a career move of some description e.g. find a new job, break into a new sector, consider a complete change of direction, or who want to advance their career in their current place of work by improving their confidence, communications or leadership skills.

My background:

My coaching experience is built on a deep understanding of organisations and the world of recruitment.  In my prior employed career I worked as a Human Resources Director and over the years I've collaborated with and developed leaders at all levels and interviewed and appointed many hundreds of candidates. The insights I gained from this time provide a very valuable context and frame of reference for anyone considering career or leadership coaching.

My coaching approach:

My coaching sessions are a safe place where clients say they feel able to open up from the word go.  I take a strengths-led approach, helping people identify and leverage their distinctive qualities and guiding values.  I also help identify areas that may be holding my clients back and develop practical strategies to address them.  The people I work with say that I'm skilled at helping them see a bigger picture and raising their awareness of stakeholder needs.

Whatever the situation, I tailor my coaching support to meet your particular needs be that:

  • challenging and helping change beliefs that may be holding you back;
  • developing new behavioural skills, where I may share job search and interview techniques and/or leadership and communications techniques to expand your options
  • turning your ideas and aspirations into practical implementable steps and actions.

Sample client comments:

"When I met Sally I had already been working for my then employer for 15 years.  I had already progressed to a management role but wanted to take my career to the next level.  Sally prompted me to see my career progression from a different point of view.  As a consequence I've successfully moved sector and gained promotion to Director level".

“I had to lead on a pan organisation workstream where I have no doubt the coaching I have received from Sally helped hugely. There were some tricky conversations that needed having and some tough negotiations.  Sally asked me some real 'killer' questions that were lightbulb moments and helped me come up with strategies I could use in the following weeks. The workstream led to hundreds of thousands of pounds in savings and efficiencies and Sally’s support helped me ensure the project was a success”.

"When I started working with Sally I had been working for my employer for ten years and was looking for career diversification into a new sector. Sally’s blend of coaching practice, underpinned by her broad industry experience, really helped me to move forward.  Her thought provoking questions challenged my thinking, increased my self-awareness and created a sense of positive reinforcement that boosted my confidence and ultimately improved my performance. Sally supported me on several occasions to build my own career and I hope to have an opportunity to work closely with her again.  I highly recommend Sally to anyone who has the drive for career progression or diversification”.

Additional information

I provide a free introductory online call of around 45 minutes (by Zoom or Microsoft Teams) for us to meet and explore your coaching goals.   This initial session session focuses on helping us both decide whether my skills and experience meet your particular needs and whether I'm a good fit for you.
I offer coaching online, by phone and, by arrangement, face-to-face ( York/Leeds area only) which means you can choose the delivery which best suits your circumstances and personal preference.  In career coaching, sessions are typically 90 minutes in length but more generally once you've had a first, foundational coaching session, I also offer a flexible range of shorter sessions (45, 60 and 75 minutes) so you select slots to meet your particular needs.

Unlike many other coaching providers, I offer between-session email support such as providing resources or materials to help clients with their reflection and learning or to assist them with investigating options and action planning.

My services are priced per session which means clients are free to stop coaching when their coaching needs have been met.  My quoted rate is for a 60-minute session. Discounted rates are available for individuals working in the not-for-profit sector. Please get in touch to find out more.
