About me

My story
This is me - coach, mentor and life enthusiast with a passion for my work, my family and the power of progressive change.

I am a qualified Transformational Coach. I empower people to make dynamic changes in their lives. My qualification is through Animas, which is accredited by the International Federation of Coaches (ICF).

I live in sunny Surbiton, South-West London. I’m originally from Edinburgh, Scotland and I’ve been living in England for 20 years. My world is my 6-year-old daughter and my beautiful girlfriend.

My professional life began in business relationship management and technology. I have worked for corporate and not-for-profit organisations in senior strategic and leadership roles.

I bring to my coaching practice a personal specialism in building trusted relationships with people.

Away from the world of business, I have wide life experience as partner, friend and parent, and I know first-hand about the power of making change.

I have a passion for helping people to fulfil their potential.

Coaching comes naturally to me. I am a person who offers warmth and encouragement, and I work with a wide variety of clients from many different backgrounds.  I have a refreshing direct coaching style and I will hold you accountable.

Above all, I empower people to make dynamic changes in their lives.

What is a Life Coach?
Well in everyday life, people get in a quandary about a certain situation or something is niggling them at the back of their mind. This is where a Coach can help. Its a place to go for guidance, support and challenge so that you can figure out what’s in the way of creating the goal you want or to ease the situation you find yourself in.

What’s the process?
My sessions are suitable for people who are new to transformational coaching and those who already have experience of supported approaches to change. The sessions adapt to your needs. They include a combination of listening, reflecting and talking, and they use a variety of tools and strategies.

The only requirement is that you are fully committed to change.

My sessions last for 90 minutes, which is longer than many other coaches offer. This extra time gives more opportunity to get to the core issues, and there’s no sense of being rushed.

I offer a complimentary chat, to touch briefly on your concerns and to see how we get along. I call this a ‘chemistry call’. As the name implies, it’s a mini introduction to one another – where we first start to learn about whether and how we might work together.

If we decide that we’d like to move to a first session, we make a booking and take it from there.

A typical example of what happens next could be a set of six sessions where we work on identifying the changes you will make and setting real actionable goals. The practice of actually making changes will begin at the right time for you, in the supported context of the coaching.

Areas where change needs to happen can be clear and straightforward, but this is not always the case and sometimes the specific focus for change emerges gradually in the course of coaching. Whatever the change, as long as you have a strong motivation, we will design a programme of sessions at the right pace for you.

I coach with a strong focus on your desire to develop yourself. I will hold you to account. The atmosphere of the sessions is encouraging and supportive, but transformation will only come about if you truly want it.

My mission is simple – to move you from A to B!

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained with Animas and I am qualified with an ICF accredited Diploma in Transformational Coaching.

With 20 years experience, I have held various senior strategic and leadership roles.  Over the years I have managed, mentored and coached many people.

Fathers Coaching

Working with fathers
My own life journey some years ago saw the breakdown of my relationship with my partner and subsequent challenges involving access to our daughter. I know first-hand the emotional and mental strain this situation brings. The experience of finding my way through the changes that had to take place has led me to help other fathers who may need a little guidance or support. I help out where I can with charitable causes that focus on parenting.

Testimonials

What key changes have you made in your life through coaching?

Simone: I have learned to recognise the fears that were holding me back, and to deal with them. I have learned to believe in myself and my abilities. I feel able to make decisions that are right for me. Now I know that I can be and do whatever I set out to do (within reason!).

How did coaching bring about the changes you wanted?

Amanda: Paul’s coaching sessions have empowered me. They enabled me to make decisions, to problem-solve, to be more confident. The effects of coaching are evident in the progress I have made at work.

Give some examples of how coaching helped?

Filipe: Paul has supported me in looking at the direction of my professional life – in financial planning and creating goals.

In one of my favourite action points, he encouraged me to contact other dance-school owners to ask them questions about their established businesses. This was a great opportunity for me to reach out to well-known people, to learn about their businesses and build relationships. I ended up chatting to the owner of one of the biggest dance schools in the country, and I was invited to film a promotional video with their media department for my own school. Thank you Paul!

What led you to coaching with Paul?

Simone: I entered into a coaching agreement with Paul after being made redundant from a role I’d had for seven years. I recognised that I had some important decisions to make about what to do next. I was a bit lost and found it difficult to make decisions. Everyone says redundancy can present opportunities but it doesn’t feel like an opportunity at the time! It does feel personal!

I found Paul to be incredibility supportive, and above all an extremely good listener.

Paul was able to respond with a number of models to work through that provided the structure I needed. We agreed goals and we worked through exercises. We reviewed progress during each session.

Before I started coaching with Paul I was finding it difficult to ‘break the ceiling limit’, but I have just landed a senior role that sits at the top of my CV. This is where I’ve aspired to be for the past 25 years. Paul’s encouragement and support were key contributors in getting here.
