Agdela Coaching & Fresh Air Fridays - Melanie Faulks

The falling leaves we'll see this month tell us that letting go can be beautiful. Any thoughts, stories or habits you'll be changing this Autumn?
Hi! I am Melanie Faulks. Helping you transform life, work and wellbeing - especially if you're managing anxiety, depression, a physical health condition/disability or neurodiversity (i.e. Dyslexia) alongside! What's your potential and when are you planning on reaching for it? I'm a Work Psychologist, Life & Wellbeing Coach and #FreshAirFridays Facilitator based in South East Wales.
Coaching is all about being and feeling the best you can and achieving in life what you really hoped for - and it's for anyone! Anyone who wants to make changes to, or make progress with, a particular area(s) of their life. It is also for people who may have started already but have become stuck or stalled.
And if you don't know where to start, I can help with that too!
I offer 1-1 coaching and outdoor group sessions. I have been coaching for over 15 years and have personal experience of working with a coach.
My 'How I Can Help You' video is below.
1-1 coaching sessions
Is your life the best it can be? ...or not quite yet?
Let's step out for a moment and consider your current situation. Let's look at what you need and want. Or start exploring what you think you need or want. What do you want to hear? From me? From yourself? Let's turn things around (even upside-down!), challenge the status quo (includes you!) and reveal your preferred future. What do you see? How does it feel?
And what will you do?
Of course, change and progress require action as well as thought, exploration and creativity.
So, together, we'll establish new or clearer goals and determine how best you're going to move forwards and accomplish them. Like the sound of a personal, inspiring and effective action plan?
As you work on this, I provide encouragement, accountability, a sounding board and congratulations. We'll continually assess progress, view the learnings and you will receive impartial and non-judgemental (but sometimes gently challenging!) feedback. I assist you to address any setbacks and practical obstacles too.
I'm a Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural, Mindful and NLP coach. This means I can also help you overcome those psychological obstacles (unhelpful and hampering thoughts, feelings and behaviours) that we often encounter along the way to achievement and success.
Furthermore, you will get to know yourself better as a result of coaching and be even more prepared for future aims and aspirations!

First step - my no-obligation coaching taster/chemistry meeting
I believe that all coaching should begin with a NO OBLIGATION face-to-face taster session/chemistry meeting and this is the first step in all my services. I introduce coaching and you tell me about your needs, hopes, aspirations and knowledge of coaching. All in confidence of course.
The quality of the relationship between you and your coach is important to the success of the coaching programme.
If, after chatting, we think we can work well together and meet each other's expectations, we'll start looking at your anticipated coaching programme and agreement.
This includes the purpose of the coaching and why now, how we will know it's making a difference, the location, frequency and duration of our meetings, our roles and responsibilities, confidentality, between session support, payment method, cancellation policy and service evaluation.

Training, qualifications & experience
At 29, I started studying for a BSc Honours in Psychology. Three years later, I gained a First and across the next few years:
- Post Graduate Certificate in Mental Health
- Mental Health First Aid
- Certificate in Occupational Testing
- Brief Psychological Interventions
- Certificate in Coaching (approved by the British Psychological Society)
- MSc in Occupational Psychology
- NLP Coaching
I had already enjoyed working with the Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural and Motivational Interviewing approaches and at 40, I started planning for what has now become Agdela Coaching.
My clients' goals and action plans have ranged from condition management, wellbeing and life fulfilment to finding and/or succeeding in the workplace. My MSc research explored the successful return to work journeys of people who were previously on long term sick leave https://www.agdela.co.uk/back-to-work
I work with private clients, employers, housing associations and organisations such as Macmillan Professionals, Shaw Trust, DWP Jobcentre Plus, Rethink Mental Illness, NHS Primary Care and NHS Mental Health Services.
Not all but many of my clients have been people managing anxiety, depression, a physical health condition/disability or neurodiversity (i.e. Dyslexia) alongside life and work. Coaching is not a substitute for counselling, other talking therapies or professional supervision (as in Health and Social Care, Counselling & Coaching) however they can run alongside each other if appropriate to do so.
If you are working in Health and Social Care, you might be interested in the following service https://www.agdela.co.uk/health-and-social-care-staff
I look forward to meeting you!
I keep up to date with the evolving world of coaching and Positive Psychology, and subscribe to my own self-reflection and practice development via 1-1 professional supervision and group peer practice. I evaluate my services through ongoing review with clients and a post-coaching questionnaire.
I am a member of The British Psychological Society's (BPS) Division of Occupational Psychology, the BPS Special Group in Coaching (SGCP), The Association of Coaching, Fresh Air Fridays Facilitators and hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.
