About me

How's your life as we meet #March? Is there a #Spring in your step? Where are you heading?

Hello! Welcome to Agdela Coaching and Fresh Air Fridays. I am Melanie Faulks and I'm a Work Psychologist, Life & Wellbeing Coach and #FreshAirFridays Facilitator.

I help you with life, work and wellbeing - and especially if you have a health condition. Not all but many of my clients have been people managing anxiety, depression, a physical health condition/disability or specific learning difficulty (i.e. Dyslexia) alongside life and work.

What's your potential and when are you planning on reaching for it?

I provide 1-1 Coaching (Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural, Mindful & NLP) and outdoor group sessions. I have been coaching for over 15 years and also have personal experience of working with a coach.

For Newport #FreshAirFridays

Your opportunity to stop, relax, recharge and explore how to create the life you want - and all whilst walking 2-3 miles in glorious nature. Come along once a month for 3 hours at the fabulous Newport coast, in a forest or wonderful Belle Vue Park.

Each group session has regular segments plus a different theme each month. Booking is essential to participate and all you need to bring along is yourself and a small flask of hot water for the tea break. Come along and see what we do for yourself! Your first time is FREE.

"I stayed chilled for days." Dany.

"It's all about wellbeing and my thinking becomes clearer too." Elizabeth

For Agdela Coaching

My 1-1 coaching services are:

  • Employment Coaching - What are your current work related needs, aims and aspirations? How is it all going?
  • Life & Wellbeing Coaching - Is your life the best it can be? Whatever that means to you..... or not quite yet? Tried the Life Audit yet?

Let's chat - and especially if you're managing a health condition alongside life and work.

Are you currently off work due to a health condition, disability or injury? My Back to Work service aims to help you move forwards confidently and comfortably towards your work related aims. Why not take a look at what the journey might look like on my Back to Work page:

What is coaching?

Coaching is all about being the best you can be and achieving in life what you really hoped for - and it's for anyone! Anyone who wants to make changes to, or make progress with, a particular area(s) of their life. It is also for people who may have started already but have become stuck or stalled.

And if you don't know where to start, I can help with that too!

There's a 'How I Can Help You' video below.

A coach helps you step back and reflect on your current situation, including yourself, and decide on new (usually exciting!) goals or assess your current goals and direction. Together, you'll work out how best you're going to move forwards and create action plans that work - effective ones! Coaches are impartial and as you work towards reaching your goals, they provide encouragement, a constructive sounding board and motivation. They will also discuss progress with you and you will receive non-judgemental (but sometimes gently challenging!) feedback. They also assist you to address any set backs and practical obstacles.

I'm a Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioural, Mindful and NLP coach. This means I can also help you to overcome those psychological obstacles (unhelpful and hampering thoughts, feelings and behaviours) that we often encounter along the way to achievement and success.

You will get to know yourself better and increase your personal insight, skills and confidence for future activities and aspirations too.

"Deciding to go down the life coaching road can be hard but it is so worthwhile." Andrew, 37.

"Thank you, I feel happier, more positive and more willing to be open to new opportunities." Jo, 35, who was at a crossroads in life and navigated some important decisions.

"Melanie was very personable and sensitive to changing work circumstances. I recognised my abilities to problem solve, goal set with time lines and see things that I don't feel passion for as 'projects' with end points." Naomi, 47.

"Your support was invaluable when you feel that you are no good to anyone in the work market of today. Thanks, I will let you know later in the year how things are progressing." Alan, 54, returned to work after a period of anxiety & depression.

Melanie really helped me to refocus my priorities and give me better perspective over my work life." James, 42.

"After the first talk we had, I felt you were helping me already and I had confidence in you to help." Steve, 31, who has a permanent physical disability and became self employed.

"Working through my challenges with Melanie has helped me achieve a much improved work/life balance. I now have the tools to make that sustainable." Emma, 36.

"My work with Melanie has helped me a lot. I've put the new assessment process in place and my motivation and creativity at work as increased alongside." Anonymous feedback received as part of the evaluation of 1-1 staff coaching at a housing association.

Your new thinking and planning partner awaits...!

1-1 Coaching from £120

Coaching via Health and Social Care employers and Vocational Rehabilitation providers is negotiated separately

My 1-1 coaching starts at £120 and I offer outdoor coaching (alongside a 2-3 mile walk of course!), coffee shop coaching (in pre-selected and comfortable venues) and private consulting room coaching. For private sessions, I use the comfortable meeting rooms at Wellbeing Solutions, Newport and R&R Consulting Centre, Cardiff.

Pro-bono coaching may also be an option - do ask - will depend on current availability and individual circumstances

No-obligation consultation/chemistry meeting

I believe that all coaching should begin with a NO OBLIGATION face-to-face coaching consultation so this is the first step in all my services. I introduce coaching and you tell me about your needs, hopes, aspirations and knowledge of coaching. All in confidence of course.

The quality of the relationship between you and your coach is important to the success of the coaching programme.

If, after chatting, we think we can work well together and meet each other's expectations, then we'll start looking at your anticipated coaching programme.

This includes the purpose of the coaching, outcome measures, anticipated location and frequency of our meetings, confidentiality, responsibilities, payment method, cancellation policy, between session contact, how to address any arising issues and service evaluation.
