Medical Coaching supports people facing a health challenge. It is similar to counselling but specifically aimed at addressing the very unique issues that can arise after a medical diagnosis. Medical Coaching support can be extremely helpful during very challenging times and is complementary to the medical care.
A diagnosis can be a shock and it is important to have a safe space to explore our response and feelings. There may be decisions to be made and practical matters to be addressed, and having the support of a skilled and warm professional is invaluable. This does not replace the role of loved ones, but having someone who is not emotionally involved can be very useful.
Medical Coaching aims to improve morale when it is most needed and supports the patient in feeling positive about their treatment plan. Research has shown that having a positive focus strengthens the the immune system and has demonstrable effect on recovery from illness.
I recovered from cancer at 52 and I saw that being ill is a very stressful time. Apart from the treatment process itself, there can be such an impact on all aspects of your life.
I know that my recovery was boosted by having professional and specialised help - feeling supported meant I felt optimistic and positive which was so important.
I made a decision to offer others that same help. I started training in Psychosynthesis psychology and coaching, and further training in Medical Coaching.
After 10 years of helping people in this way, I have seen that that when people are supported through a holistic mind and body approach, they are better able to manage their illness, feel more in control and feel so much better.
How I work:
Together we will address your immediate health challenge, your treatment options and make decisions about your recovery plan. I offer packages from 3 months to 6 or more if needed. They are personally tailored to your needs and we will create a plan that is ideal for you. Individual sessions cost £70 each.
Because of the Covid situation, I only see clients virtual or by phone at this moment.
