How I can help


We all know how it feels to want something to change and yet just not feel able to make it happen. Uncertainty, anxiety, external stresses and a lack of confidence can stop us from following through or even making a start. It is amazing what can be accomplished when we are able to really focus on what needs to change - and when someone is alongside us in finding out and supporting us in taking the necessary action.  That's what lies behind 'Icandolife' - a belief that life is for living, that we have the inner sources to handle more than we think we can, and that we are meant not simply to survive, but to thrive.

I have been working as a certified coach since 2007, after a senior leadership career. I specialise in helping people identify their personal and professional goals, realise their ambitions and bring about change. For me, coaching is about supporting you in turning:  'if I could only....'  into 'I did it - now, what's next?' It's about helping to bring about the shift in motivation, attitude, behaviour or belief that enables you to take the first step towards change, followed by many more.

Whatever the challenge you face, I offer my professional experience, compassion, empathy, natural encouragement, common sense and good dollop of humour (when needed!) to help you start and complete your own journey through change.

Firm Foundations Goals Setting

In addition to coaching sessions which might be focused on addressing specific issues, I also offer one-off goal setting sessions.   With some thought - or perhaps straight away - we can often come up with an answer to what change we would really like to be able to make in our lives and then spend some happy moments imagining how life at work or at home might be if we achieved it. And that is where, for many of us, the goal-setting ends. Firm Foundations Goal Setting is focused on every aspect of the ‘dream’.  If we think of the ‘dream’ as being the destination, then Firm Foundations Goal Setting is the map.   It ensures that:

  • the destination exists (i.e. that the dream is realistic)
  • you're going as far as you can go (i.e. that your goal is sufficiently ambitious)
  • you have the route (i.e. that you have identified each stage of the process to achieve the goal)
  • you know what you need to pack for the journey, the transport you'll need to arrange, the pit-stops you'll need to make (i.e. that you have absolute clarity around each of the mini-goals that make up the foundations for reaching the ‘end-goal’.

Firm Foundations Goal Setting takes place in one 2 hour session rather than over a series of meetings.  However, it is always possible to use this session as a base for short or longer-term coaching.
