As a transition coach, I help busy individuals press pause and create space for newness to emerge. We all go through life transitions on a regular basis, yet we rarely take the time to sit still, reflect and prepare for these transitions.
Let me help you take a pause and create the future you truly want.
I offer 1:2:1 coaching session in persons, as well as coaching sessions via teleconference/phone. Most of my sessions take place outdoors and utilise nature's ability to foster creativity, reflection, problem-solving, emotional well-being.
Change can feel scary and overwhelming, having someone on your side whose entire focus rests on helping you to maximise your opportunities and minimise challenges can provide the necessary support and encouragement to think outside the box and dream big.

Julia is an amazing coach! Before starting I thought she was going to give me the answer to my problems. Instead, she made me think about my own questions, she taught me to divide big tasks into small ones, to see the positive outcome I would get from those nasty tasks you have to do, to look inside me to find out what I really want. She also gave me some other tools that could help me after the sessions. I went from anxiety and depression to being able to get out and ask for help, do things and be social and self-sufficient. I can't be grateful enough.

Training, qualifications & experience
From an early age, I held a deep curiosity and fascination for people, the way they lived, the opportunities they had and the choices they made. My interest in human nature and psychology first led me to study Criminology. It was during my studies that my passion for supporting people to achieve positive transformational change first originated.
Before working as a coach, I worked as a support worker for several not-for-profit organisations and public services. I assisted individuals in life transitions ranging from rough sleeping and homelessness to housing (Streetwork), leaving and re-building lives after domestic abuse (Women’s Aid; Abused Men in Scotland) and preparing long-term female prisoners for release (SPS Cornton Vale). Additionally, I have spent the last three years researching, writing and teaching about high-control groups, commonly known as cults.
I completed my coaching training (Certificate in Professional Coaching Practice) with Full Circle in Edinburgh, in 2018.
I have also undertaken advanced training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with the Centre of Therapy. While CBT does influence my work, please note that I am not a qualified therapist and do not offer therapy services.

Creativity is all about seeing the everyday in new ways. To achieve transformational change, we need to think and do things differently. After all, if nothing changes, nothing changes.
Curiosity helps us to discover more about ourselves, lead healthier and more satisfying relationships with ourselves and others and provides the key to creativity and innovation. Coaching sessions with me will support you in looking at everyday life from a fresh perspective and an attitude of curiosity.
One of the key reasons why people struggle to make changes, is because change feels scary. We are creatures of habit. Familiarity and certainty feel safe, this holds true even when the situation we find ourselves in isn’t healthy or doesn’t make us feel fulfilled. Courage helps us to overcome this fear and the good news is that courage is like a muscle, it becomes stronger the more we use and practice it.
Honesty in coaching enables conversations that are focused on the heart of the matter. Honesty requires a willingness to lean into discomfort and to embrace vulnerability.
Simplicity is harmony. Simplicity helps us to see what is essential and to limit or eliminate the things in life that lead to stress, costs or wasted time. Coaching sessions with me will help you to focus on what really matters to you to achieve more balance and harmony.
A big part of being a coach is to engage in personal development and ongoing learning. I continuously strive to improve upon the value I offer clients. I do this through attending regular training events, supervision, having personal coaching, as well as engaging with research and client feedback.
