Judy James - Coaching for Business, Relationships & Personal Development
Manchester City Centre
Need a new way of looking at work, relationships or life in general? There is never a better day than today to start making plans to create the future that will enable you to feel more focused, positive and able to achieve. Coaching is a good way of getting the clarity and motivation you need.
The term ‘Life Coaching’ seems to mean different things to different people, so it's important to establish what aspects of life you're seeking coaching for? Is it:-
- Work life or home life?
- Business or family life?
- Relationship or single living?
- To raise your game in sport or the performing arts?
- A new venture or academic study?
- Career Change, Job seeking or preparing for retirement?
You are unique so what I offer is bespoke coaching, co-designed with you in mind so that it's 100% tailor-made to suit you, your needs and goals. Maybe the challenge that lies ahead for you is in one of these areas:-
- Emotional Intelligence
- Confidence and Personal Development
- Health and Wellbeing
- Work/life balance
- Leadership and Staff Coaching
I have more than 15 years experience of successfully delivering coaching and mentoring for personal and professional development. In the same way that a sports coach enables elite athletes to perform at their best, I will help you maximise use of your unique set of skills and abilities. Working in partnership, I will help you to identify your goals and find the ways and means of achieving these goals, as well as the motivation and focus you need to get there.
Here's what clients say about my coaching:-
‘Coaching that gets you where you want to be’.
This has changed my life – at home, at work and generally all-round. I see just what has been holding me back and pulling me down; I see strengths I didn’t even know I had.” Primary School teacher
"Working with Judy always left me with a sense of calm. The sessions enabled me to think in a very focused way, able to plan ahead with greater clarity. I would recommend her as a Coach to anyone who works in a pressurised environment." CEO Charity Sector
"Changing career direction takes time and with Judy's coaching and mentoring support I was able to structure my CV in a more focused, job-specific way and draft a cover letter including examples of my skills relevant to my goal of becoming a Creative Designer.” IT Service Delivery specialist
"Very professional and lived up to the claim of making small changes that make a big difference; I feel more in control of my work-life balance”. Art Gallery Director
“I was struggling to get work as an actor, so much so that I began to dread going to auditions. Judy’s coaching was inspiring and creative - really attentive so that it felt very real and tailored specifically to me and my way of learning. The whole process was very engaging. I felt more calm and composed at auditions. I could be myself.” Performing Arts student
'Coaching that reaches the parts other coaching never reached’.
GROUP and TEAM Coaching
I work with managers and leaders across corporate SME, public, private and volunteer sectors enabling them to get closer to the performance, productivity and profitability heights their organisation aspires to; for businesses this also means profitability.
I provide group and team coaching for ‘Big Day for Business’ events, such as sales pitches, competitive tendering selection, conference speeches or the BIG presentation to the board - coaching that is carefully crafted to bring out the best on the day that it matters most. A well-structured pitch or presentation and a confident, well-paced performance will deliver the impact your organisation needs.
‘Aspiring Leader, Aspiring Manager’ - a short course of training, coaching and mentoring for small groups of talented individuals not yet at the top, but seeking the best development path to navigate.
Choosing the right team coach to work with is an important decision. Feedback and quotes from evaluation sheets I've received include:-
“A richly-informed, accomplished coach”
“A skilled facilitator of experiential learning, both in one-to-one and group work environments”
“Team Coaching skillfully facilitated by a professional coach who understands group dynamics; adds value and strength when it’s essential for people to be pulling together collaboratively”
I hope the information in this profile helpful to you in making your decision about coaching. Feel free to get in touch and book an initial no-cost consultation and taster session.

All coaching packages are bespoke and therefore priced according to venue, time of day, duration, single or block bookings, but fees are negotiable and an important topic to discuss and agree during an initial consultation. Choosing the right coach and agreeing a way of working that best suits you and your needs are important steps at the start of the process. I understand how crucial it is for the person to feel that that they can talk openly in a supportive, non-judgmental, confidential environment; that's why I offer and make no charge for an initial first meeting at which all these important factors can be freely discussed.
For Training and Workshops, full details of prices, venues and content are available on request. See the Further Information section for a summary list of topics.
I also welcome your enquiry if you would like to mix-and-match or include other aspects of personal or professional development so that a workshop is designed exclusively to meet needs of your organisation or team.
Enabling people to make small changes that make a big difference to the way they feel about themselves, their situation and relationships, is the hallmark of my coaching practice. I believe that the key to maximising potential is first to find out someone thinks and learns, and then empower them to utilise their skills, talents and resourcefulness. That’s why I first started to provide coaching more than 15 years ago as a specialist training consultant, to enhance the range of personal and professional development initiatives I could offer.
In leadership and management roles I have 20 years experience working within the public and not-for-profit sectors, as well as commercial experience in the communications, retail and hospitality industries.
With the ability to quickly understand and interpret the vision and values of an organisation I am able facilitate development aligned to specific business objectives. I recognise how important it is to draw out potential and resourcefulness, enabling people to achieve more, yet feel less stress or pressure.
I am always happy to share knowledge, skills and insight so I offer a wide range of topics for group and team training:-
- Emotion at work in the Workplace: Building Resilience and Emotional Intelligence
- Am I really listening: A light-hearted look at communication skills
- Achieving Potential: creating change from fixed to fluid
- Feedback and appraisal - the art and science of giving and receiving effective feedback
