I work in the service of my clients for optimal mental well-being and improved performance. My approach is underpinned by models of coaching grounded in established adult learning and psychological frameworks.
My initial aim is to gain clarity of the issues being presented for coaching by each client, along with clearly understanding the clients coaching goals. In a safe and secure environment we then work together to achieve these goals.

Courage is a vital ingredient required for clients commencing the adult learning process. Throughout the coaching relationship I remind clients to celebrate the small steps of achievement along their own path of learning. In my experience, these small steps can eventually combine into a single giant leap which is often felt as a transformative shift in understanding.
I am an ethically minded practitioner, undertaking regular CPD, supervision, holding Professional Civil Liability Insurance and retaining accreditation with the British Psychological Society.
How we start
I invite potential client's to make contact with me via email. We will then arrange a convenient time for a phone call, where we will have a relaxed, confidential conversation. It provides an opportunity for you to share the issues you would like to bring to coaching in more detail and ask any questions. There is no charge for this initial phone conversation.

Master of Arts in Psychological Coaching, Metanoia Institute:
This qualification allows me to work with clients at a deep psychological level. It avoids the 'one size fits all' approach, in that there are a broad set of learning interventions and techniques available for clients to develop new skills and ways of being.
NEO PI - R Personality Inventory (Psychometric Assessment)
As a qualified practitioner for the NEO PI-R, I can undertake psychometric assessments for coaching clients. In my experience the assessment can help with understanding more about your typical or preferred style of going about things, such as how you prefer to interact with other people, how you typically think and feel about things, your typical process of arriving at decisions, and your typical approach to making things happen. When completed honestly and openly, the results allow you to gain insight into the sorts of environments and tasks that most suit your personality – and therefore, in which you are most likely to succeed.
It is internationally recognised as the ‘gold standard’ instrument with which to measure personality. The qualification is accredited and verified by the British Psychological Society (BPS), as well as being internationally recognised and aligned with the standards of competence defined by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA).

For over ten years I have had a private coaching practice for individuals. I love working with private clients and in particular those that present challenging briefs.

I have also worked with over 100 coaching clients within the civil service. Providing psychometric assessments, developing talent/leaders and for one on one coaching sessions with clients that work in challenging, high performance environments.
I am experienced at working with clients that are presenting symptoms of stress. Primary goals include assessing well being of clients, building self awareness around the symptoms and impact of stress, creating appropriate techniques for improved well being and mental toughness.
Joe's commitment to an individual approach has enabled the building of rapport and trust with civil servants, which is difficult to achieve in such a sensitive and discreet environment. Joe has an ability to find people 'where they are' and to encourage and inspire self reflection that ultimately supports our teams to mitigate their experience of stress and encourage development.

Prior to becoming a coach, my professional life was spent working within organisation's at senior management level. This experience provides me with a great understanding of the systems and dynamics that interplay within organisations, as well as insight into the role of the individual within high performing environments.
