About me

I am a teen coach who helps teenagers make the transition from childhood to adulthood - dreaming big, building confidence and working happily towards a good future. I also coach the parents of teens who are struggling to cope with guiding their youngsters through this often turbulent time.

A mother of two teenagers myself, one of whom is transgender, I started coaching to help youngsters and their parents deal with the sometimes conflicting messages of school, family, friends and social media to find out who they truly are and to take responsibility for creating their own life paths.

I have over twenty years of experience working with young people and their families, mainly in comprehensive secondary schools: teaching classes, tutoring one-to-one and providing training to colleagues and parents. Today, I offer a wide range of programs and services - from individual coaching, to seminars and workshops.

Training, qualifications & experience

I was on a very familiar trajectory - a well-established teaching career, married for 15 years, bringing up two children - when a series of events imposed massive changes on nearly every aspect of my identity, my lifestyle and my relationships:

- caring for parents with chronic/acute illness;

- career overwhelm and burn-out;

- bereavement;

- infidelity and divorce;

- coping with the demands (and unexpected benefits!) of single parenthood.

To begin with I wallowed in an ocean of self-pity and rage at the thought of my comfortable existence coming to an end. But eventually, I knew had to take ownership of my life and start thriving. It was coaching, mindfulness and NLP that helped me to live again, even better than before. I know first-hand that these tools work and I have used them with my clients to guide them in successfully achieving their own goals.

I trained with the NHS as a workplace Health Champion in a secondary school and specialised in promoting strategies that maintain strong mental and emotional well-being in staff and students. I also completed the Leading from the Middle (NCSL) program which trains participants in coaching and mentoring strategies to empower others.

I am currently undertaking a course in providing hypnotherapy.

Formal qualifications and checks:

BEd Primary (Hons)

Enhanced DBS for working with children

NLP practitioner (ANLP)

Licensed NLP master practitioner (Society of NLP)

Other areas of coaching I deal with

Areas of coaching:

- confidence as a learner;

- aiming for particular exam grades;

- supporting a transgender child in expressing gender identity;

- creating helpful habits;

- overcoming emotional blocks;

- improving relationships with friends and/or family;

- coping with family changes (such as bereavement, divorce, job loss etc.) and their impact on teens.

Every situation is unique, so it is best to contact me to discuss particular circumstances, needs and aims.

The payment transaction is a powerful way to strengthen commitment to the coaching process (especially where a parent is making that payment on behalf of a teenager) because the young person needs to be invested in their own development and to do the work. A conversation on this topic is an ideal opportunity to get coaching started and to discover if I am the right coach for you.
