Hi, I'm Helen.
I believe in supporting professionals who have reached a crossroads confidently choose the right next step for them and gain clarity of options for their future. Through powerful 1:1 coaching, we partner to develop a path forward, enabling you to feel renewed enthusiasm and fulfilment for your work and life.
Who do I work with?
My clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds but the one thing they have in common is that they want to create lasting change for themselves. It might be a small change, or it might be a big change they are looking for, either way, being stuck in current habits means that it’s hard to see the wood for the trees, so to speak.
Often clients are experiencing a career transition –looking for the next step in their career, wanting closure in order to move forward or looking to change direction altogether; some are lacking confidence; some are looking for clarity in their career or lives; others are needing, and wanting, to create boundaries between work and home.
Whatever your goal, we will work together for you to become unstuck, create your own change, increase your confidence, and shift unhelpful thinking patterns.
If you're unsure about working together that's completely normal, so I offer a free, no obligation, 45 minute discovery session for us to decide whether we want to work together.
What is my approach?
I am a firm believer in working and living to our strengths and building confidence to deliver the sustainable outcomes we desire.
I take a pragmatic, largely non-directive approach which allows my clients to step back and observe - rather than continuing habitual reactions.
- Coaching involves a process of self-awareness and developing insights, so the first step is to define what your current challenge is and where you are right now in your thinking, then we can work on where it is you really want to be, and then the choices or options available in order to get there.
Working with me you will experience honesty and authenticity as we partner together to achieve your goals. My style is conversational, supportive and we will build a relationship where there is trust, humour and warmth.
If this sounds interesting and possibly what you're looking for, send me a message and we can take things from there.
What's my background?
My career to become a coach has taken a circuitous route.
For many years I coached extensively and sought external coaching where relevant for the managers and leaders I supported in my corporate HR career, but it wasn’t until I left the corporate world that I personally experienced coaching.
I was at a transition in my career having worked for more than 15 years in senior human resource management across the financial, insurance and professional services industries in both the UK and New Zealand.
I felt stuck, I knew what I didn’t want but working out what I did want was harder, and how to get there was even more daunting!
I went on my own voyage of discovery to find out
- What my strengths are
- When I am at my best
- What my values are
- What really gives me meaning
During this process I decided to do something completely different and retrained in Chicago to be a canine massage therapist. Back in New Zealand I set up my own small business working closely with the veterinary industry. It was a success and I loved it. I finally overcome my fear of public speaking and eventually wrote a book about my experience.
When the pull of family in Europe become too much we relocated and coming back ‘home’, armed with my new self-awareness gave me full clarity for my next step. I completed my formal coach training and became ICF accredited.
I now work to support others to shape their own futures.
Through my own diverse industry and professional experiences, I understand the pressures and complexities affecting my clients, and work in partnership with them to create an environment of trust and encouragement to enable them to gain clarity in thinking, direction, and actions.
I try and stay true to one of my favourite quotes: “Own your decisions and own who you are, but without apology” – Anna Wintour.

When I work
Some client comments:
"I came to Helen feeling unfocused with a lack of passion in my career. On starting my coaching journey, I was quite nervous and knew I would have to allow myself to be vulnerable. through Helens approach I felt comfortable to open up, she provides an environment where I feel safe, relaxed with no judgement being made.
Helen through her great skill set as a coach has challenged me to look to myself for the answers and through this, I have been able to explore my values, goals and ultimately myself. I love that I can be myself and the tools that Helen uses allows me to be creative and gain a deeper understanding.
As I continue my coaching journey with Helen I am excited as the goal I initially came to Helen with is still in fruition - to find my passion again I had to find myself first and because of her this has been possible."
"Helen is patient and offered guidance and structure when needed but also space to explore when appropriate.
Helen listened to feedback on how I work best and facilitated the sessions so I could get the most out of them. She got to know what worked best for my learning style and facilitated exercises to help me reflect, learn and grow.
Helen always followed up with support and offered exercises to enhance and further stretch what we had worked on in our sessions.
Unfortunately Helen didn't give me all the answers, but instead gave me the tools, space and structure to find them myself! Much more beneficial in the long run!
Helen helped me approach issues differently so that I could explore different routes instead of taking the usual path of what is easiest and most comfortable."
"I was stuck and overthinking everything, blocking me in moving forward with promoting my new small business online. Helen somehow managed to help me get perspective, clarity and rationalised my thinking, I came away from my first session with a new positivity, a clear achievable action plan & toolkit and inspired for the change. Helen is non-judgemental, approachable and tack-sharp, she will probe you and you will feel like you’ve had a mental workout, but the results are so worth it. I wish I’d done it months ago."
